Media Portal and MCE Vista Issues

Hi Guys,

I have some problems and i hope you can help me solve them.

Problem 1 (with MEDIA PORTAL): Setting up digital Cable - set top box
I used media portal to watch movies and online videos, but now i bought a hauppauge tv card.
Now i would like to set media portal up so i can watch tv on the computer. It is a digital cable box.
So, i re-installed media portal with the tv server (i heard you would need that), and i tried to scan the channels.
Thats where it starts to give me trouble. I am unable to find any channels when i do the scan. Normally i would look for one channel in my case channel 3 (on the tv) and then i would be able to see the digital cable channels.
I have tried other software for example MCE and the hauppauge software they all set it up correctly.
Please help me, i know there where other topics regarding this issue, but it seems not to work with me.


Problem 2 (with MCE VISTA): DRM issues regarding digital cable movie channels
I hooked up my digital cable box that came with my provider (shaw) to my computer.
When i run mce vista, i am able to record and watch normal tv shows without any problems.
As soon as i switch over to a "movie channel" (the channels that only play movies like movie central), i am able to watch it for a couple of seconds, then vista displays a message saying " your cable provider has restricted access to this channel'.
Hmmm. i am paying for these channels so i called them up to find out what is going on.
They told me that it is the DRM. Normal tv channels dont have a drm built in, but movie channels do.

All i want to do is to watch these channels on my computer.


Any help will be greatly appreciated.
