Default MEncoder

Does anyone use MEncoder?? If so what is the best File type to save movies as?

The reason I ask is because some of the movies i have on my pc DO NOT have any time associated with them, therefore I cannot fastforward or rewind these films and If i touch the remote it jumps back to the start.

I have passed a few films through MEncoder as Divx and MP doesn't seem keen on playing them and the jump function won't work just lumpy fast forward!!

Is it better to keep them as mpegs?? I'm not short of HDD storage but it makes sence to compress them while I have the chance!!

So the header is broken... Hmm... Maybe try compressing using a different piece of software that re-writes the header of the file (giving it a time)? Maybe TMPEG Enc., VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, Windows Media Encoder, etc. mencoder might be free but it might not be the right option for this type of file. Give some others a shot.

Yeah it is the Mpeg headers!! Aarrrrgggghhh!!! I'm so fed up with it!!!

What can I use to repair them?? Is it caused by something in particular? I used to have 200+ Films on my hdd but i formatted it by accident!!

I use DVDshrink to backup my dvds and this problem only use to happen on a couple of disks now most of my dvds are all messed up and if i want to watch a film i have to watch it all the way through with out stopping!!

I looked on the net for a mpg header repair tool but they all lead to some flashy sites that tell me i've just won a tv or a spongebob square pants!!
