Default MPEG2 to Xvid converter with commercial removal - tool

Hi,

I've made an attempt to use Sage's Comskip tool when converting my MPEG2 generated files to Xvid to skip the commercials in the conversions. I've used it for quite some time now and it is not always removing the commercials but it will for most of them (especially in the middle of a recording). It will automatically minimize the size of the generated output without manual review.

For Comskip information see http://www.sage-community.org/index.cgi/wiki/ComSkip

You may do whatever you like, of course, with it. Modify the INI-files (Comskip and tool) to suite your system. Download Virtualdub-MPEG2 http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/ for MPEG2 conversion.

Totally unsupported ;-) Download at http://www.gothager.com/tmp/XvidConverter.zip (requires JRE)

Thanks :-) Give it a try! Some things worth mentioning:

You need to create your own Virtualdub template file.. This is performed by doing a manual conversion in Virtualdub and then store the jobs file and then do some modifications to the file.

1. Open a test MPEG2 file in Virtualdub
2. Clear the job list in Virtualdub (F4)
3. Do your own conversion setup in VirtualDub (video compression, audio compression)
4. Add it to the job list ("Save as AVI"and select to add to job list)
5. Save the job list to create the JOBS file
6. Modify the jobs file with INFILE, RANGES and OUTFILE as specified in the example file
7. Modify the settings ini file to point to your new jobs file

Good luck
