Country: | Hi (beware I have no idea of what Im talking about here) I have a setup with a dear old sony KV32FX65 crt tv which has three scart input one of which can handle RGB signals. I also have a M2NPV-VM motherboard with HDTV out module which has three component RCA's. I have been running happily with a S-VHS cable until know, but would like to use the component output from the HDTC bracket. So I bought a component to scart-cable (I think) it has three RCA's (red green and blue) in one end and a scart in the other. Connected the thing to my htpc and to the tv's RGB enabled scart and flicked on the telly, but no image was coming on it. Then my questions is: Is the M2NPV-VM component outputting YUV or RGB and does it matter? Can the KV32FX65 RGB enabled scart input handle YUV? Could it be that there are some +5V RGB enable pin on the scart which I don't have enabled? (think I saw someone with a problem like that some time ago in an unknow forum) And finally have I just wasted $20 on a cable :-)? - regards Martin |

Country: | The HDTV output module is Component YPbPr ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YPbPr ) , which is not in any way compatible with Scart RGB (at least nothing that can be handled by a cable). I would suggest buying a new LCD/Plasma TV instead ![]() |

Country: | As a curiosity: I belive that the XGI-cards could do RGB-out! I belive they were bought by ATi (or was it nVIdia?).

Country: | I recently made a RGB to SCART cable for my Sony KV-32FX68E. For this cable to work you need an ATI card. The quality compared to composite or s-vhs is superior! http://www.nada.kth.se/~feldt/vgascart/ The description is in swedish but I think you can figure it out. I think this is the way to go if you want the best possible quality on your Sony CRT. |
