Country: | MP Version: 0.1.3 CVS 30.08.2005 Skin: Default Windows Version: xp prof sp2 CPU Type: Celeron 2,4 GHz Memory: 512MB DDR Motherboard ASUS P4Pdeluxe Video Card: ATI Radeon 9200 Video Card Driver: Catalyst 5.5 Video Render Type: VMR9 renderless Video Codec Type & Version: Intervideo 4 Audio Codec Type & Version: Intervideo audio decoder TV Card: Hauppauge PVR-350 TV Card Type: Hardware TV Card Driver: latest version Synopsis: Last CVS works very solid an quit well, but when changing a channel, timeshifted material has gone away. MyTV just buffers the current channel and always deletes the buffer when changing channels. Regards Ralph |

| Retired Team Member | This behaviour isn´t really new, is it? It is perhaps my "fault" that mp behaves like that, because I requested it 9 month ago. If you switch channels, it seems to be natural, that you are no more interested in the previous channel, so why keep the timeshift buffer? Obviously, this seems to be different for you? tomtom |

Country: | Two weeks are quit new to me. This behaviour just comes up with one of the latest cvs, means this change was made within about the last two weeks. I loved the way timeshift worked in Media Portal. Because I don't have a zapping plan for watching TV, It's good to know, that I can rewind every time I'd liked to and watch every channel I've zapped through. And when changing a channel it doesn't have to mean, that I'm no more interested in the material that has been timeshifted. For me a comfortable timeshift has the option to rewind and watch even the channels I've switched. This was the most important function, that let me decide switching to Media Portal. Why not having these zapped channels in timeshift? It's rather useful than useless. I use this way of watching TV and rewinding timeshifted material very often. So for me this solution is a step backwards. I hope this could be made configurable, for those who want to take full advantage of what timeshift and MP can do? Regards Ralph |

| Portal Developer | In my opinion this is a very important function. Example: Now, 16:59 I am watching TV. I am in timeshift, 30min behind LiveTV. TICK! 17:00 MP switches channel and starts a programmed recording. -->NO, I have lost my timeshifted material!!! I cannot watch the show to the end at 17:00!!!! This is not user friendly, this is not "natural", why do I have timeshift, when I lost it after a channel switching. I liked the way it behaves some cvs´ ago. I hope this will be fixed in some of the next cvs or in the next release |

Country: | I agree with the "keep" team. Why delete anything anyway? The hard disk gets just as much usage anyway as the buffer is still active. I can't see any benefit AT ALL for deleting the buffer when changing channels. |

Country: | @ Frodo or anyone who could answer this, Any chance getting this feature back or make it configurable? I'm missing it quit a lot and it bothers me every time I'm using Media Portal, which means every day. I cannot understand, why this has been changed? Regards Ralph |

Country: | This is something I'd really like to see back. If you are watching TV timeshifted and accidentally switch channel, bad luck you're no longer able to keep watching the same thing, the whole buffer is emptied . For this and a nasty OOS I switched from 0.2.0.0 RC1 to 0.1.3.0. |

Country: | In version .2 this feature now works correctly and I was very happy to see our requests have been implemented. MP now uses timeshifting exactly how I imagine Timeshifting should work. Unfortunately, I have just seen this in the changelog: MediaPortal MyTv: On 13/11/2005 [10:12:18] _Frodo_ added the following change: timeshiftbuffer now gets cleared when zapping Frodo, **please** change this back, it seems that only one person wanted this (and couldn't really give a reason for it) vs the many that don't want this behaviour. |
