Default TV preview requires timeshift?

The TV preview does not show on the home screen unless timeshift is enabled? Currently timeshifting slows down channel changes way too much to be effective, but not using it means no preview elsewhere.

Hopefully this is a bug that can be fixed.

I don't think that this is a bug - it is intended behaviour....or at least that is what I have assumed... :?

OK...but why would this be intended behavior? I don't see how my need for continuing to watch the current TV channel is any lesser just because I don't have timeshift enabled?

Its just assume if your leaving mytv your not watching anymore so its switched off. Seems logical enough to me, otherwise more button presses are needed to go back to the menu.

Because that assumes that your are currently watching a show. When the timeshift buffer runs out or you press stop, you arent watching anymore. But I dont even use MP for livetv so as long as I dont have to press more buttons when Im going in and out to schedule shows, Im happy

I don't like this as well.
I think it would be perfect if you could choose between the following settings:

Entering MyTV section:
- Enable TV playback when entering MyTV
- Enable TV playback & Timeshift when entering MyTV
- Do not enable TV playback when entering MyTV
- Remember last setting

Leaving MyTV section:
- Enable small TV preview window when leaving MyTV with TV playback enabled
- Enable small TV preview window only if Timeshift is enabled
- Do not enable TV preview window when leaving MyTV

So everyone could customize the "MediaPortal Television Experience" according to his needs. 8)

But I'm not a programmer and I don't want to keep the developers away from more important things, of course.

Timeshifting for me has no noticeable difference on channel changes, and writing a background file to the Hard disk, also causes no problems which i prefer as may want to record something i'm watching partway through.
Timeshifting is the BIG plus that ALL HTPC software is supporting and switching it off WHY.

Only my view

Why to turn it off!

Because it will makes a different in channel changes for most of the users. Timeshifting enables you to pause a tv program, but i discovered that you can now (latest SVN) also press the pause button with timeshift disabled anyway.

That's why i have it disabled by default, its faster and if i want to pause, it automaticly turns on, when pressing pause.

BTW: i don't care about the preview window at all 8)

Timeshifting is not a requisite for watching a show and it slows down dramatically the channel change speed so I mainly have it disabled now.
