Default Any comments about my new setup?

Hi there,

this are my planed components for my first HTPC.

I plan to use my HTPC for music, picture viewing, video, tv, recording-stuff. Pretty standart Mediacenter-user .
I dont plan to use any HD stuff or what ever at the Moment, but i want the opportunity to upgrade late in maybe 1 or 2 years. So it doesnt matter much at the monment. My TV is a simple standart TV from SEG @ 100Hz.

Oher components are:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9
with nForce4-4x Chip
Ram: 1 GB Corsair
Graphic: Saphire Radeon x700 pro, 256 MB
Case: Origen ae S16V
Power Unit: Be Quiet BQT P5-370W
HDD: Samsung 500 GB T166 HD501LJ SATA2
Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV PVR 500MCE

So, my Question is:
Any comments about the Setup?
Can i go with this?

Many Thanks in advance

Well, looks good to me, maybe share more about what exactly you want/plan to do with it.
But looks very good for al, the basic stuff (movies/music/tvseries/dvd)

Do you plan on running XP? Is it going to be a HTPC only?

Looks good so far..

Well i plan to record TV Shows via standart Cable (No DVB), Music Jukebox (~ 10 000 mp3) view Videos ( Mainly Xvid, Mpeg, Vobs...), Viewing some holiday Pics, News Feed, etc... As said, I Think pretty standart HTPC...

Yes, it will run on XP SP2 plain, new install. And yes. This will be a HT only PC!

What do you think about the noise? Can someone guide me to a good silent cooler?
Waht do you think about the Case? I love it! So stylish... I hope that there will no probs with it.

I´m not shure with the graphic-adapter. I´m not shure, i think i have read sth. here about atis x-series...
Any Probs with it?

Greetings

Most of the issue related to ATI lately have surrounded the IGP X1250 line. Most of the guys over at avs have good luck with the fanless 2600xts so you may want to look into those.

The case is fantastic! Definitely on my list of upgrades.

The Scythe Ninja is an excellent cpu cooler and you may also be able to go fanless with that also.

2600xt = 2600pro but higher corespeed, I believe, --> more heat. I've never seen a 2400pro with HDMI adapter, but you can buy them separately.
Make sure to not have any chipsettfans (they are annoying little devils). A passive Zalman often does the trick.
And finally: SpeedFan (free) is your friend! (After setting in up).

Good luck

Looks like a nice setup.

Can you give an update when complete? Specifically about the case; construction and installation as well as the remote with the VFD screen. I was going to use the same case, but am leaning toward the new Silverstone GD02 I previously mentioned as it has a small touchscreen and I would prefer not to always have to turn on the big TV to navigate. The OrigenAE also comes in a touchscreen modoe, but I've already increased the budget too much (who doesn't?)

Good luck, have fun!

Yes, shurre, i will give an update. I dont have all the money yet, but i think during january i will buy most of the parts.
I already have the board, the cpu, the gpu and the ram. Case, Tuner and the rest will then comm next month.

I dont like the idea of in-case touchscreens. My HTPC will be placed near the floor, so i would have to crouch down... No very comphortable for me...

Besides that, its out of my budget...

Greetings.
