Default High End HTPC MP based

Ahanix MCE701 Mediaportal

Ok after about 4 months of research i'm now about to start building. Actually we will build 2 and maybe more!

Setup will be:

Ahanix 701MCE
Gigabyte P35-ds4 / Q6600 / 4GB DDR800 Corsair XMS2
NVIDIA 8800 GTS640MB
FloppyDTV internall CI / CAM Irdeto FOR CAI Netherlands (probably 2x)
Soundcard will be the first available HDMI 1.3 , for now the onboard HD AUDIO ALC889 DTS connect
(reciever onkyo HDMI 1.3 / Samsung 40FullHD)\

Still need to determine the powersupply and some other details, i do have a few blackspots in my preparations though:

How will MP react to directX10?
How do i configure MP with NEO DTS HD audio (ALC889)
I have to try out 1:1 pixelmapping 1080P on VGA or 1080p on HDMI overscan on the samsung

I will post progress here and would be happy to recieve reactions

Default Ahanix MCE701 arrived!

Just recieved my Ahanix MCE701 case from the states! Case looks and feels really good! Since my mobo should arrive promptly I really need to by a powersupply. Does anyone have any suggestions? 8800GTS640mb and 6 sata connections. I plan to run my q6600 to about 2.8 in sted of 2.4.

Get a Silverstone one-rail (single 12V channel, but lots of A of that which makes it more stable especially at cold boot) at least 500W PSU.

OK i'm still very confused about the CAM modules. i'm planning to buy a floppy dtv with a alphacrypt cam module. This seems to be the only way to decode irdeto for St CAI in the western part of the netherlands. Even in het Nederlands: Heeft iemand dit al werkende, het is toch gek dat er ook irdeto CAMS zijn ????

OK!
update1: just assembled my htpc. even bought a legal vista version. The first problem I'm going to have to tackle:
the driver for the 8800gts640 does not give me the opportunity to clone the monitors as I would want it. I want to run mediaportal with my 7 lcd screen as a primary, so the wife doesn't have to fire up the samsung full hd every time she wants to listen to music. I want this screen to run at about 1024x768. I want the clone (samsung le40f71b) to run at 1920x1080! Question is: is mediaportal able to do this??? I'm installing MP tonight please advise!

I have an 8800GTS which I use in a similiar way. I run a 42inch Plasma as secondary at 1920*1080 whilet primary is my standard monitor at 1920*1280.

Why do you want to clone the screens though. Don't you mean that you want to have Dual Screens? If that is the case then MP will handle it fine. In the configuration options under General at the bottom you can select the screen that you want MP to run on.

Therefore I run MP on secondary and then I can continue to use Computer as normal when someone else wants to use MP.

I can run it dual screen as long as it starts up in the lcd touchscreen and in the lcd tv when it is powered on. What would be even more fun: if MP was able to automatically fire up my samsung. I will first install and see what happens. I'm going to start off with vga to the samsung to prevent under and overscan. (only 1:1 pixelmapping in vga as it seems) thnx for the reply!

Ahh, get you now I misread slightly. Now I understand why you want Cloned as you actually want MP on both screens to start with.

I never actually tried the cloned screen option exactly because of the difference in resolution. I simply assumed that this would not work properly within MP.

Good luck and let us know how you get on as sounds like a mighty impressive system you are building there.
