Now busy with losing vista MCE from some hardbuttons on the keyboard and remote. So far i'm loving MP just figuring out the ins and outs. Anyone have the same little flickering square ?????

..with new version 1.2 of xface it should work without flickering.
The Problem is that MP not likes if multiimages are in overlay, so i have delete the multiimage stuff and use now a static logo.

Thnx for the reply, I will try the new version right away. I screwed my settings with ir server though and still trying to figure out how to lose that inferior VMC on my hardbuttons on MCE keyboard. By the way when running xface on 1920x1080 the msn plugin writes the 'msn messenger' text over the icon, is there anyway to scale this? I will try to lose 'msn' on the text part, this would make it fit and keep the text uniform in size. Any Idea where I would be able to do this? Is this written in the skin or the plugin? (haven't searched yet). Absolutely loving xface , I'm still new on MP but I'm catching up!
Xface is really killing MCE, I have a lot of mediaphyles among my friends so my work is cut out for me.

Default gui problems

Status/problems so far, if anyone has any ideas please respond:

Still not able to switch mediaportal between the lcd touchscreen and the samsung fullhd. My goal is to provide a wife proof button on the phillips mce remote, where you can switch mediaportal full screen from the lcd to the samsung. problem is that the 8800gts nvidia drivers are not able to clone the image on different resolutions.

Still not able to play H264 movies within the mediaportal player, now investigating ts reader, see how that works.

Still figuring out how to programm the hotkeys on the mce keyboard, from vista mce to mediaportal.

Still not able to control system volume with the phillips mce remote. (not a learning function) When i go to the taskbar and open the volume slider, the remote does work???

All minor but hard to solve little problems. Still not even considering to switch back to mce : XFACE rules. After xmas i will be focussing on adding a dvb-c tunercard to use MP as decoder. Sofar i'm enjoying this media stuff!

Works from the ehome driver as standard, if it works in Vista MCE then it should work in MP, once Vista MCE services are disabled, as in above post link

thanx muschi, kunky and paranoid.

Status: Finally achieved wifeproof status!! Eventghost works great to fill the gaps in remote controled htpc problems. (master volume). I'm working now with mce remote and keyboard. I even found a way to switch monitors with ultramon and eventghost, however i'm gonna try your option Muschi since the solution i'm using now is somewhat artificial (macro in eventghost using ultramon : MP exit fullscreen, switch monitor and fullscreen window in new monitor) The problem is of course that it lacks the flexibility to watch tv in 1 monitor while still using MP on the 7 inch lcd.

Next weekend I will have some time to disable MCE (thnx funky) and insert my floppy dtv DVB-c card. In the netherlands this is still a unsupported solution with CAM alphacrypt as a decoder for digital TV.

So far I really must say that MP is delivering big time! Now i will also start working on the xface skin (outlook plugin, msn chat plugin, enz)

this is of course after installing the floppydtv card with cam module which should be interesting enough!

No pain no Gain

Ah it's good to hear that! I had come across your name searching info on this topic, do you know how to do this and how to install this in MP? Many thnx in advance since information (current!) is very hard to find. Rather strange that so a little number of dutchpeople are into watching digitel on the PC.

fixed

Succes!!!

Floppy dtv card is installed and working great. Had some problems at first to let MP store the channels found. This was due to the fact that. I had the option PID hardware filtering on when scanning (this makes floppydtv not seeing channels at all!! After I found that out the autotuning found channels but did not store them properly. This was due to the fact that I had experimented with tv server and for some reason (AFTER DEINSTALLATION OF TV SERVER) MP had changed smething in the architecture so screwing up my TV functionality. Ifixed this by a clean install of MP with latest SVN builds.

So now I had tv working however when Timeshifting was on or I wanted to record some channels the whole thing hanged and I got msgs like stream buffer sink error OR cannot connect to MPG2 pin. In Vista this is due to the fact that you have to open MP as an administrator!! Even though my only account is an administrator account I'm still forced to open MP as an Administrator, which is no big deal. There is only one little problem You also have to open Configuration as ADM. So forcing you to run the whole show again

Also have the webepg guide working, which was somewhat of a pain but got it to work by installing XMLTV folder contents within the folder XMLTV in MP (it works don't ask me why, just ask me how)

However as stated earlier no pain no gain. Everything works perfect now. (stichting kabeltelevisie ouderkerk)

Things to do:

- re-enter my HD movie database, which is no big deal but time consuming (40 full hd movie entries)
- still finding a way to play DTS music in BASS player, being able to maintain DTS connect function on realtek alc889a chip (which is brilliant)
- do some minor rewiring as to use al the silverstone firewire connectors
- finding out how to change XFACE homescreen into those flashy icons (had that working but have to recreate
- create a macro for multimon to switch between lcd on case and tv (had that working but have to remake)

Only some minor things with no big difficulties! very stable and MP rocks like a maniac!! What a great programm thanks to all the developers. I put in a lot of effort as a user and am now about to enter the programming part, we'll see what happens there!!

For vista users (32) it works great, it takes some effort but you can ask me for advise when you need it!
