Some questions/issues, though:

1) DirectShow CAN play .flv videos, via Gabest' FLV Splitter and ffdshow. This way we could avoid cpu strain caused by the Flash Player and take advantage of the better postprocessing abilities of ffdshow. It would be possible to implement that in your plugin?
I tried doing that but it doesn't work correctly. I think you can try it yourself by adding .flv to the "Known movie extension" list and by disabling the flv player in mediaportal configuration. I might have done something more with the source code but I don't remember exactly. I think the problem lies on the ability of ffdshow and flv splitter to play STREAMING videos. I don't have much time to research on it but please do try and tell me if it works nice for you or not.

this is one of the ultimate party plugins. thanks for all the hard work!

now to be a total jerk: how about gamevideos.com or gametrailers.com support? i know i've seen stuff from gamevideos.com hotlinked on other sites before (similar to the way people do with youtube)...

EDIT: also, is there a way to change the location of the thumb downloads? currently they go into the root MP folder... i don't see anything (obvious, anyway) in the xml config...

thanks to mediaportal and all these awesome plugins i've pretty much given up hope of leaving the couch except to go to work and pee. and once i get the couch toilet installed...

Both of these sites have RSS support and can probably be used with this plugin but gametrailers.com has some additional information so I'll try to implement that.

I was wanting to post a comment on gizmodo.com - they have a short article about MCE having a plugin for YouTube. I wanted to post screenshots of how MediaPortal also has a plugin for YouTube and some of the other video websites. But I can't because I am unable to get the plugin to work on my computer. I am able to view a list of the videos, but when I try to play a video (it doesn't matter if I try YouTube of Google video - the only two I have tried) I just get the cycling wait indicator. I am not sure how to troubleshoot this. Any clues? I have version 0.2.1.0 of MP (no SVN snapshots have been added) and am able to watch standard .avi videos and just to let you know that the plugins musicvideo and trailers both work well. On this computer I have no TV card, but use it mainly to watch trailers and videos, weather, etc. I have tried both OnlineVideos_0.22.zip and OnlineVideos_0.21.zip and they both exhibit the same spinning waiting wheel.

I've got the same problem. Not that I can really add any relevant information, but I can confirm this problem exists for me as well.

DOH! I bet that is it! I'll have to wait until I get back to the office to check this.

Thanks!
