some interesting stuff in this thread: http://nolanparty.com/mediaportal.so...&highlight=mpg

if this utility can convert to mpg on the fly, including converting live tv, does this mean it would be possible to view this mpg stream on xmbc? and if so... does that mean it might be possible to add live tv streaming to this plugin?

In theory it may be possible to setup streaming of shows as they record but it would not work for live tv in general or allow changing channels. My machine would most likely not be able to handle the overhead either so difficult for me to test.

I noticed another thread in the plugin development forum where someone is looking into network broadcasting which may be an alternative in the future.

Has anyone had problems with getting the mediaPortal plugin to work ?
I have downloaded the mp_xbmc.zip file file from http://home.iprimus.com.au/miarose/ and followed the instructions by unzipping and copying the XBMCserver.dll and ccxstream folder into C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\process\

I run Mediaportal setup and go to the Plugins section, the XBMC pugin does not appear. I have tried this with v 0.1.3, 2.0 Rc1 and RC2 of Media Portal and I have also tried this on another PC. Both running XP Pro.

Can anyone help me with this please ?

Thanks,
Boeing100

Hi Boeing,

Can you post your MP log to see if it is trying to startup the plugin or not.

Cheers,

Chad

Default Streaming TV

Interesting news:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=481122

Maybe this will make it possible to create full integration with media portal including live tv.

btw thanks for the great plugin!

Thanks for your reply but I have tried again using version 2.0 RC2 and it works great (but only with the RC2 version for some reason !) just need to convert my recorded shows now !

Thanks for this, it's fantastic. keep up the good work and I can't wait till you crack the live tv functionality.

My compressed shows are playing perfectly now, many thanks ! but is there any way to manually delete shows from the recorded shows list in XBMC without having to delete them via Media Portal or from the PC itself ?

Cheers,

Boeing

Hi Boeing,

You can't delete from the script at the moment, its on my todo list but I stuggling to find inspiration to get anything done.

Still struggling with language and string encoding problems.

This could maybe give some inspiration:

A patch was commit today to FFmpeg's CVS today that fixes dvr-ms demuxing support in libavformat (more specificly in the asf.c and asf.h source code files), (libavformat is the container demuxer/splitter code FFmpeg CVS, but this fix has not yet been ported over to MPlayer or XBMC; note and understand that libavformat is not used by MPlayer (or the MPlayer-core in XBMC) so the fix have to be ported over to MPlayer (and the MPlayer-core in XBMC) before XBMC can take advantage of it (meaning a programmer/developer need to volunteer to code a patch for it then submit it as a patch to MPlayer and XBMC), ...however know that the DVDPlayer-core in XBMC is using libavformat so the code could probebely be ported over to that with ease by the avarage C/C++ programmer ('simply' by comparing the difference between the old asf.c/asf.h in XBMC and new asf.c/asf.h in FFmpeg's latest CVS) if he or she has the tools and means to compile XBMC and the DVDPlayer-core for XBMC, ...using the DVDPlayer-core in XBMC to playback .DVR-MS could at least be a workaround until proper DVR-MS support is added to MPlayer, (or until MediaPortal starts to use MPEG-TS instead of DVR-MS).

Any volunteers?, if this was implemented in XBMC then XBMC should be able to play DVR-MS files nativly

PS! Sorry but I'm not a programmer/developer myself so I don't have the skills requires do this.

Did anyone try and install this latest script (0.6b) in MP version 0.1.3?

I followed the steps, copied the xbmcserver.dll and CCXstream folder to the plugins\process folder. When I go to the plugins area in the MP setup, it does not show the plugin in the list.

Is it possible that when support for RC2.0 came out it broke backwards compatibility?
