Country: | I've finally gotten this to a point where I believe it's relatively stable and reliable. This IS the first version, so there are a couple of things missing (mainly specific handling of concerts). However, I think you'll find it pretty useful regardless. Big thanks to Darre for the help. Download -> http://www.team-mediaportal.com/file...VideoDatabase/ mVids allows you to have an easy, categorized interface for your Music Videos. The plugin will scan a specified directory and automatically lookup the artist information, grab an artist image, and grab a frame from the video. It will then categorize them based on Genre/Style/Tone/Artist, giving you numerous ways to filter through the videos. It also keeps track of playcounts and ratings - giving you quick access to your "Top 100". This plugin will also watch the specified directory and automatically add any new videos that are added. All information comes from AllMusic.com, so if they don't have the artist, you'll have to manually add it using the "Manage Database" button on the plugin's configuration screen. This window will also allow you to edit any entries you have thus far. Installing: mVids.dll <- Place this file in your Plugins\Windows folder MediaInfo.dll <- If you don't already have this in your Plugins\Windows folder, place it there ffmpeg.exe <- This can be placed anywhere, just make sure you remember where you put it as you'll need to specify it's location during the initial configuration. Be sure you grab the appropriate skin file from the folder in this rar. The Monochrome 16x9 skin will work fine with Blue2 as well. Setup: Displayed Name <- Enter the name you want shown in MediaPortal's menu ffmpeg Path <- Path to ffmpeg.exe Thumb Time <- Number of seconds into the video you want the thumbnail taken (you can do this per-video in the Database Manager) Video Path <- Root folder containing your music videos Auto Queue Entire Folder <- When selecting a video, this will cause the plugin to automatically play the next video sequentially every time. Mosaic Size <- This is used to specify the maximum size of each artist thumbnail in the generated mosaic for Genre/Style/Tone views. Increasing these numbers will mean larger and fewer thumbnails, but faster generation. Lowering them will do the opposite. How it Works: All videos are assumed be named artist-song. It's fine for additional information to be after the title (such as artist-title-xvid-2000.avi, for example), as this will be discarded. I've run it through my collection of about 300 videos numerous times, and it rarely fails to parse the video correctly. One thing that will throw it off is a group with a dash in it's name. These will be quickly learned by the plugin, though, and you'll only have to pick the correct answer one time. Every time you choose a match, the raw name is saved in the database along with it's matching artist. This means that as time goes on you'll have to pick the artist less and less. The plugin does monitor the directory for any changes. That includes deleting, adding, and renaming any file with an extension specified in MediaPortal's video section. You can change the artist image and video thumbs by right clicking on them in the database manager. Also, to any skinners that are planning to skin. I can send you a zipped folder structure with a demo database in case you don't have hundreds of music videos lying around. That way you can skin without worrying about setting it up. Just let me know. Last edited by jburnette; 2008-08-28 at 16:22. |

Country: | Thanks for the comments - good to know there is some interest. I've still got to get it out to the first couple of people, just trying to take care of the bugs I already know about. I can't have 10 people sending me the same bug reports, but I'm off work for the next week so I should be able to release it publicly at some point between now and next weekend. |
