Default My Guitar Tabs Plugin?

Hi guys,

This crossed my mind the other day and I thought it might be cool..

I often like to play my bass guitar along with the music I'm playing in MP. I thought it would be really cool to have a plugin that would show guitar/bass tabs for the song being played.. like the myLyrics plugin. Would anyone use this plugin if I gave it a shot? (No promises that I'll be able to do it though..)

This sounds like a plugin I'd use. Is there any plugin existing already that will load/display text files? Most of the tabs I've encountered are just plain .txt, so this could even be useful for other things.

the plugin could easily access the information from http://www.tabwiki.com/

For example: http://www.tabwiki.com/index.php/Pin...nd%2C_Pts._1-5

Right now it seems like the big issue is finding a reliable place to get the tabs. The site above is great but they don't seem to have a large selection of tabs. The Online Guitar Archvie (OLGA) would be ideal but they are currently shut down because the RIAA is suing them. Any other suggestions?

well with visting http://www.911tabs.com you'll be able to search various pages from there. the page itself might not be that useful for your (our) purpose but anyhow the pages this site is parsing are working and powerfull too. as there might be maybe many bad tabs anyways, it might be as well useful to be able to switch to the next search result.

did you also think of little gadgets like a metronom or a guitar tuner? to make it a real My Guitar plugin ? (-;

Maybe you could ask the My lyrics# authors permission to use his sources to get into it, because what you're trying to do is in the end pretty much the same except you're going to parse tabs sites rather then lyric oneS?

Sign me up - that would be freakin' sweet. Like fdask, I also have a large collection of text files, and would be relatively content with just a plugin that displays text files in a neat way .. anything like that out there? I browsed around the plugins section but couldn't find anything that sounded just right.
