myVoice Open Beta

[booyakasha]

myVoice is a plugin for MediaPortal that builds off the MS Speech Engine and allows the user to speak (in English, with a fairly neutral accent) various voice commands to control MediaPortal functions.

It requires MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC3 and version 5.1/6.1 MS Speech Recognizer Engine
(Version 5.1 can be found here. You want to download and install the SpeechSDK51.exe file)

It supports general navigation such as "move up", "move down" as well as modifiers for those commands: "move up five", "move down three", etc. Various window specific items are supported such as "my music", "my videos" etc. You can select music in your database by saying "music song <Song Name>" or "music artist <Artist Name>", etc. Radio and TV are also supported in a similar way.

Included with the full download is a help file in both html and chm formats.

If using MP 1 RC2, you'll have to create a folder named "log" in your MP install folder, otherwise errors will occur.

-Fixed music genre, artist etc to reflect new MP music database structure (0.2.3.0 RC3)
-Added Playback Volume Adjustment option that allows you to set the volume when the plugin is active
-Added detailed logging flag (currently just working with volume adjustments).

-Fixed the window plugin part that was missing the label for the control, as well as the 'My' extension. You have to enter the process configuration once for this to work properly, although you don't have to select anything.
-Changed genre/artist playback to shuffle the playback.

-Found and corrected a bug in the configuration menu
-Corrected mistake in the release configuration that was referring to a voice profile of mine as well as a theme of mine.

Added TTS Debug feature
Added various mp3 parsing parameters.
Added optional loads for each media module.
Fixed music artists/genres not adding to a playlist you can control with the remote.

One question... Does the plugin listen blindely, or does it somehow compare the input from the microphone to the output from my speakers.

It listens for an activation phrase (default "computer"), that will put the plugin into an active state. There's a configurable timer built into it (default 10 seconds), that will stop listening for any of the commands if nothing else is spoken in that time frame. When it receives the activation phrase or it times out, you will hear an audible beep.

And again : i love it

I got an idea....ok maybe its needles....but what about an answer of questions to the pc???

e.g. u say "computer time" and it answers the current time

I hadn't realized an LCARS skin had been worked on. I agree, too bad it wasn't, as it would be awesome.

As for the above comment about it speaking, it is very possible to do that. The problem I have with it is that it sounds terrible. Keep the ideas coming though, as this is great place to hash out what's worth pursuing.

Hmm thats right....the MS speak agents are terrible.
arent there any other speaking engine???
