Great plugin, I'm having a lot of fun with it and my friends are pretty impressed.

For the person who keeps ending up in the edit screen, this is because there is a command to go to the AVI editor that is called "Cutter", which sounds too much like a lot of other commands.

My tip here is to go through and delete most of the commands that you will never use. This will increase reliability a whole lot.

I look at it like booyakasha included everything and it's up to you to prune to your needs.

I was also going to recommend changing the detection time to 2 seconds, which still works fine and stops the engine picking up extra input.
I also edited some of the commands to better suit my needs.

As for the text to speech, if it can be implemented easily, that would be great. People could choose to use the MS voices if they wanted to or buy and add other voices in if they wished.

The training was a pretty strange experience. I never thought I would end up reading "The Wizzard of Oz" to my computer while it listened and asked me to repeat any words it didn't understand.

One other way to strengthen the response accuracy of the system is to precede the offending word with a plus (+) sign. You will see this in the default activation of "Computer" as well as "Exit"

So does the plus sign tell the computer to be "extra careful" or something?

Basically yes. From the SDK docs:
"Increasing the required confidence means that the SR engine will have to be much more certain that the word it recognizes really is the expected word"
It's a relative thing I believe, so I don't think you can go through and put a plus sign in front of everything. Also, training the engine several times really helps. I'm a native english speaker, and I had to train it twice myself. If this becomes too much of a problem for people, I can look at how to add a confidence setting into the configuration

I also noticed one strange thjing, but I'm not sure if this can be helped.
It seems that the voice system automatically adjusts the level of the microphone to compensate for background noise and the like.
This works very well, except when a loud noise makes the mic level drop to zero. For some reason the PC doesn't seem to have the brains to raise it back up and the level gets stuck there.

Has this happened to anyone else? at first I thought it must be due to my chipset or something, but I can't find any way to turn it off and keep the mic constant.

I'm not doing anything with the volume etc, that would cause this, but make sure that your microphone playback is muted. Microphone recording should be on.

Actually I think you have something there. I'll have to give that a test.
Funny how the simple things don't occur to you until someone points them out
