i was reading through this thread because i am really interested in this plugin. i would also be really interested in the bi-directional information. I think that even just starting with the time/video information such as if its a movie display all of the info from the database such as actors, reviews, ratings. that would also be especially useful for music, as well as a live playlist view. i could see this sort of turning into a MP light of sorts. it would seem that some sort of paring of a remote to a MP instance would have to occur to get duplex communication working.

i will provide feedback on the existing plug-ins once i get them all set up.

I love this plug-in - thanks for the effort. I've got my HTPC in the living room hooked to the "good" tv, and I've also got coax running to the office. To control the htpc I had been needing to use VNC to connect and use the keyboard commands. Now I just use my pocket PC. Couldn't be easier. It could use some bling, like you say, but the current functionality is great.

As far as grouping and any additional functions needed, I'd say look no further than your favorite remote. Me, I like the old Hauppauge remote (not the new MCE version).

i'm actually 'porting' the remote client to Smartphone device (using CompactFramework 1.1).
I'll keep you in touch as soon as i have a real usable version

Hello all,

I've just discovered this great plugin. I'll test it this afternoon. I glad to see that many of the suggestions I was thinking about are already done by other users (like contextual menus. I love this idea). I think that the PDA screen must be a complement to the main TV screen. I mean: if you are playing a video, in the PDA you must see the typical Play/Pause/Stop/etc. buttons, and perhaps another tab with the IMDB information, another with a playlist (with the ability to add/remove items while a film keeps playing in the TV), another for advanced options (subtitles, languages, etc.).

But also would be great to, while watching a Video, you could "escape" from the contextual menu to the main one. Perhaps to see the Weather information, or to prepare a music playlist to be heard after the end of the film, etc.
I think this must be done with big and clear buttons, to be used with the fingers, better than needing the stylus. Perhaps iPhone can give some inspiration about usability and "easy of use" features

With this features, this will be not only a remote control, but a second screen!! Congratulations for your great job!

this plugin works great!! Are there any enhancements (more skins with more functions) yet?

I made my own skins for MP with my Philips Pronto to control MP. May be this could be a template for future skins for this plugin. If anybody is interested I can upload the ccd-Files from my Pronto.

to avoid misunderstandings, these files I'm talking about are for the Philips Pronto IR-remote control only. The CAN NOT be used for this great plugin.
I thought to provide them for graphical suggestions how future skins to control MP with this plugin could be like.

Do you still want the files?
