Can I use display controller HD44780 (KS0066U) instead of st7036?
For example - Display AC162.

Hello,
i think the answer is - yes. There is a statement in the datasheet for ST7036: Instruction compatible to ST7066U and KS0066U and HD44780. But currently the firmware & plugin assume that a 8x1 display is used.

Can you open Your protocol of exchange of data between computer and microcontroller by RS232. I want to connect my test board based on microcontroller PIC16F877A and display AC162 (2x16).

software from BadMojoX is already support this controller. HD44780=ST7036=ST7066U. My code is not support all plugin features. GoodLuck!
