Default Select Channels and start/end time from SQL Database

Hi, i want to set up a plugin for media portal that will connect to an SQL database, take a channel value, start time and end time values, and set media portal to record the selected channel for the specified time. Is this possible? Has it been done? Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to do it if possible?

Hi!

Please explain further! Do you want an MP-internal Plugin to connect to an external (My)SQL-Server? Or do you want to write an external prog to read/write from/to MP's databases?

Which ever is easiest to be honest.

I want to create a program (plugin or otherwise) that will hook up to a SQL database i have, which will take values for Channel, Start Time and End Time. These values will be entered into the database via a wap page. Basically, the system will allow users to enter the required info via their mobile phone (wap), the program will then periodically (5/10mins) check the database for the information regarding the user, and set Media Portal to record the specified channel.

The goal is to allow someone down the pub or what ever to set Media Portal to record a program, if they forgot to set it before they went out.

Why not having a look at MPW, the webinterface for MP, which also includes a WAP interface. Your described scenario is already possible there ;-)

Look at the sources then. You'll find some ideas there.
