Stocks plugin

Not sure where my original post went....so reposting it.

I have a very basic but workable stocks plugin ready for user testing. All source code is included in case anyone wants to add their own functions

Hey Mat,

I know, it's a shame that our previous conversation string has been lost.

One usability issue that would be nice to have is navigation with the arrow keys. The first entry in the list of stocks needs to be automatically highlighted when entering the MyStocks module. Very difficult to navigate this plugin using only a remote. :wink:

simple fix: change the defaultcontrol value at the top of the mystocks.xml file to 24

I have changed laptop since I last worked on this....so it will be a couple more days till I have it in a working state. But will have a crack at it tonite

Hello,

I am from Germany and I like this plugin.

I wish me some general improvements:

- show the real stock name at the buttons not the symbol
- select the graphs (1 day, 5 day, 3m, 5m....)
- better remote control support
- implement a Ticker like the Ticker plugin in the "desktopsidebar" software where all the stocks are shown

Just to give everyone a heads up.
I now have a checkbox to tell the plugin to list the company name instead of the ticker in the button bar.
The plugin can now automatically refresh the current viewed stock information at a user definable intervals.
And it shows a nice progress bar to show something is happening.

I will release this Monday nite (need to make sure the refresh mode is working with live data) as im still trying to get the different stock view pictures to work.

I have just uploaded my latest and greatest version. Should be a bit more user friendly for you all.

New Stuff
=======
I have added an auto refresh option with a user definable refresh time.
Added an option to display company or ticker in stocks button list
Added Progress bars to show that stuff is happening
Added error messages if anything goes wrong
Added different graph ranges - from 1 day to 5+ years.

Let me know what you all think

And as a reminder - this is "forumware"....please post a message here so I know its being used

Very good plugin!

But one cannot go on the buttons of low, with the remote control. And the Progress bars do not function at home.
