stopping mce from loading

Hello all,
I have absolutely no doubt this has been answered a million times.... but here goes.

I am running MP 2.3 on my Media centre PC and would like to stop the green button from launching windows media centre. i have trawled the forums and there seems to be a bucket load of files which may do this. I am running Vista premium 32 bit.

Currently the green button launches MP and media centre which causes MP to hang.

would appreciate a definitave answer.

What I did was a little bit of a hybrid, I use the IR Trans Server Preview 7, Which took the place of MCE Replacement Driver. In that Application you can install a plugin called. Tray Launcher. Launch it point to mediaportal.exe file and then click learn and press the green button the learn command window should immediately go away. Their is a setting for stopping the MCE Services etc.

However I figured why even add to the workload. I went into the services and disabled all the Media center services. And then on (Start -- > Run--> Type MSCONFIG, Go to the startup and make sure ehtray is unchecked. Reboot and you will get a warning, Just check dont show again.

And thats it. Then the ehtray startup service wont even start to listen for the IR command, And as such IR TRANS server doesnt need to be stateful of it.,

I spent forever trying to get this to work....

Services kept on re-enabling themselves etc...

In the end I just stopped all the Media Centre services and then renamed the eHome folder to eHome_OLD so the MCE is disabled forever... :-)
