| Is there a general guide on how to install plugins? I haven’t been able to find a topic, an article or a sticky that’s explaining how to install plugins. For example. http://www.team-mediaportal.com/file...yLyricsPlugin/ How do I install this plugin? Where do I place the different files that come included in the .zip folder? I have been able to install the MyRecipes plugin, but that plugin also has some kind of installation guide linked to it. It might sound as a dumb question for those of you who have been here for a while, but I’m starting from scratch and need some kind of documentation to help me through it. Even so this is the absolute best initiative I’ve seen. A big thanks for all of you who’s contributing to this forum and MP itself. I’ve got myself a new hobby. |

| just extract the zip in your mediaportal which is by default : c:\program files\team mediaportal\mediaportal\ The sources folder and the MyLyricsVersion are optional. Then you have to configure it the plugin section of Media Portal Configurator. |

| Thanks for your quick answer. But what does this source folder and MyLyricsVersion do? It would be nice to have some kind of “MP for dummies” ( Me ) to lean upon. For instance, and I know that it’s a lot to ask for, but when a programmer makes such a nice plugin and puts so much energy and time into it, it would be nice if he also took 5 minutes to make a complete write-up on how to install it properly. I don’t think that I’m the only one to have these thoughts, but please let me know if you think I’m wrong. Still I think that this is the best program and the plugins make it so superior to others, but I just think that it could be more user-friendly for newcomers. – right now I’m only talking about how to install the different plugins properly. |

| In a futur version of MP, there will be : - an generic plugin package ( like an ameliorated zip file) - an easy way to install in the setup (check if plugin update existe...) - a central MP plugin web server. But only in the futur... Theses features are in developpement and there is a post somme where in the forum which speak about that. so keep patience |

Country: | As he said; Most parts of the MP project (including the plugins, tweaks etc) is based on quite a high base of computer knowledge, or how different things works (codecs, graphs etc). Not saying it's a bad thing or anyting, but for example adding a "install.txt" file to the plugin zip files wouldn't take that much effort from the developers, and might help reduce the general support. ![]() |

Country: | This is true for some of the skins as well as the plugins. Oddly enough, most of the text is already here in the forums, as people will post install instructions with the announcement that the plugin/skin is available. Why post in the forums instead of an install.txt? Maybe this forces people to read the forums (which is probably for the best, but not always the most convenient). |
