OKAY... since the loss of the code for this plugin, I never redid it. Well, Now its back!!!!

at the moment, it only does what the original plugin does except the bug fix which has now been fixed.

future... im working on somehow, allowing a video background for use with skins and REALLY SUPER PC's requested YEEAARS ago by mediatobiportal

this includes the source code incase I decide to lose the originals agen

Hi all, my first plugin i wanted to make was to FORCE video as background mode (so that the tv/video can be seen as the perspective point). This was also a project to teach me mp plugins and c#.

Now, currently you can set to:
- force video as background
- force video as overlay window
- force video as remember

the first 2 are self explanitary. the last will allow you to toggle the above two simply by pressing the live tv/video as background button on the main page (although not tested, if a key is assigned to this process, this plugin shouldnt have a problem with this either)

please post mini annoyances/features you would like as i want to make a tweak plugin which twaeks more than just the above.

this said, i want to (and will) put an option to remove the bug/feature where when setting to video as background mode where the aspect ratio is set to stretch. Also an option to detect when there is no parent window and back (esc) is pressed to switch to fullscreen video (assuming there is a video playing )

the idea is to allow users to use only features and fixes that they WANT to so there will be many options.

please post ideas but dont make them too big and also post if you think this would be a good idea... it might motivate me

Working for me with MediaPortal-svn--09-17-2006--00-58-Rev10334.

Feature Request: I´d like to be able to play a video in background that is selected in configuration area of your plugin. This would allow users to do a very special way of skinning...

the feature you request i do not understand, could you expand on this?... so you want the plugin to be configurable within mp?... or you want a way that the skin can use this plugin and set the mode that it is in? per skin/ per page ?

or is it that you want a video to play in the background when there is no video playing (ie, video replaces a background)

anyways, im glad i got a couple replies...

ill try and see if i got the older version of the plugin somewhere, that one should work with version 2 without svn patches, if not, ill remake it and re-release it

ok, I tell you what, i just seen this thread after a long time and i think i might remake the plugin ( I lost the source and all of my HD content a loong time ago)

gimme a while tho, I'm working on a few things like a game for flash atm, but I think this plugin should have another go.

The plugin will only be valid for the latest svn when released because (as I said) my old sources have gone and i can only test on svn atm.

I wanted the plugin to start playing a video when MP starts. So you have a video playing at startup instead of the boring background.png.
