Country: | I am using Mediaportal 0.2.3.0 and RTLgemist works fine, but UitzendingGemist doesn't. It doesn't load the clips when they are selected. There is also no network activity that indicates that the stream is being loaded. Edit: I reïnstalled the plugin and it seems to work slightly better now. I used the MPI installer. The streams get loaded after one or more tries, but often they freeze during playback after just a few or only 1 second. What could cause this, a codec error of somekind maybe? Country: | It probably is..no problems here. Check the MP log first for errors. Maybe you could try checking/unchecking the 'use VMR9 for playback of webstreams' option in the MP configuration (General section). Also, make sure you have the latest version of WMP. EDIT: Also be sure that you have removed earlier versions of this plugin |

Country: | Thanks for your reply:
Edit: I checked but both streams use the same audio and video codecs. Edit: When I restart MP, the first opened UitzendingGemist stream plays without problems. When I open the second stream the image freezes and only the audio plays. After another restart of MP, the same story. Last edited by kruitenator; 2008-01-29 at 20:34. |

Country: | The fact is that UitzendingGemist works in the same way as RTLGemist: it downloads emission information and finds the location of the video streams. When an emission is selected, it tells the internal video player (g_Player) to play the stream. Therefore, playback issues are not caused by this plugin. Maybe it is indeed a codec problem. Have you installed a certain codec pack? I myself use ffdshow tryouts on Vista. |

Country: | Yesterday, I found out that uitzendinggemist.nl has altered the site by adding pagination in displaying available emissions. For example, when you select title starting with 'M', it only shows the emissions until 'Mo..'. I'll fix this asap. List of TODO's: - Fix incomplete emission list in uitzendinggemist - Add option to hide DRM emissions in rtlgemist. I just can't figure out how to handle the popup properly when you don't have a mouse, so I'd rather only see free emissions. - Improve navigation of uitzendinggemist. I was thinking of changing the focus to the list when you press OK on a selectbutton. |

Country: | I have sent an e-mail a couple of days ago to the web editors of uitzendinggemist to come to an agreement to rewrite the plugin using deep links. This would be a far better solution than the current one, since changes to the website itself would not break the plugin. Today I got a response. To summarize: - They are implementing something to be sure that their streams can only be played by players that are permitted by them to do so. When a stream is played using a different player, or is played from a different location, it will be denied to play the stream. - There is an alternative, which entails that I should make a different module that meets their demands. Since they would probably not want to expose their deep links, it would be a commercial (closed source) plugin. I expect that MP2 will be released before the summer, therefore I think it is best to just stick with the current solution for now, and see what to do when everything changes this summer. For those of you who would like to read the message, see here. For anonimity, I have removed all names. |

Country: | Maybe, they can be persuaded to writing a closed library (+API), which can be used with mediaportal and equivalent programs? Perhaps some unobvious references to the Dutch open source policy and the state-funded character of public broadcasting might do (a start of) the trick. [/overly optimistic] |

Country: | I don't know, but I do agree. Why should only people with WMC be able to use it? Not only MP users will no longer be able to use UitzendingGemist, but also users of XBMC and linux media centers. I'll see if I can come up with a nice reply for their message. |
