Hi.

Ok... I have re-uploaded the file. I guess it requires some time till the upload gets validated, but I hope that will fix the link. If not we will have to contact the portal administrator.

Bye

Hi Lars,
just to understand the working of the plugin:
one question: When does the plugin jump in and do the job?
When I start TV I guess, but will it do the job also when you change the channel?
And I assume that it will not detect the AR change when a commercial comes in between of a movie on tv (16:9 changes to 4:3)?

This is a cool plugin which I was really waiting for. So thx and I will let you know about results as soon as I could test it (on stable 0.2.2.0 no SVN)
cheers
cheffe

Hi Cheffe.

If you use a codec that is aware of aspect ratio changes like the ones from CyberLink (PowerDvd) or Nvidia, then ViewModeSwitcher is detecting this change as well and can react on it.
So even if a commercial break comes with a different aspect ratio (i.e. 4:3) the plugin will switch to the viewmode you have chosen in your rule.
With changing channels this is the same. At least with the TVPlugin and the TvServer 0.3. It may work with the old TVengine as well, but I did no tests under this environment.
The version 0.2 that I am currently working on is also aware of letterbox transmissions (faked 16:9 like Pro7, Sat1 and Co. use) and will automatically switch to the "Zoom" mode to make sure the picture still fit the whole (wide) screen.

I also developed a new zoom mode which is a compromise between "Zoom" and "Stretch" to have a more decent way to watch 4:3 on a wide screen, but this can not be integrated via a plugin. So I have to discuss this with the developers directly.

Hi Lars,
just tried but bad news. I cannot open the configuration of the plugin. Always get an exception.
Guess I have to wait till next stable release.

Mhh. Which version of MediaPortal do you use? I guess it is the stable 0.2.2.0, right?
If I am ready with version 0.2, I will try to compile it against the stable version as well. ... Currently I am not sure how to do this...

Thanks for the feedback. I guess you will love the letterbox detection as well. It worked great in my test environment. I hope I am finished with version 0.2 during the next week.
