WARNING: YAC Caller-ID in Sweden

Hello,

I've banged my head against the wall for about three days trying to get caller-ID working in Sweden, and I got this to say to other Swedes:

IT'S NOT POSSIBLE WITH YAC!

Reason: Sweden (and some more contries) uses DTMF signaling to pass the number called to caller-ID devices. YAC uses the TAPI standard, so even if your modem "supports" caller-ID (my USRobotics modem did), it probably supports the TAPI standard and not DTMF.

If anyone have a solution that works in Sweden (and preferably with the YAC plugin) I would LOVE to hear about it!

The way I solved it was to buy a NIM Personal.
It connects to the serial port and there are programs for it that can find the calling number on hitta.se and eniro and then send it out using the yac protocol.

I have used Yac for years in both Sweden and Norway, never had a problem.

Are you using YAC with a common modem in Sweden? What modem are you using?
