Hey guys,

there is an Annoyance / Bug in channel changing time and multi-channel audio program selection since tvengine3 Rev16567 from 26.11.2007. I tested quite some builds to narrow down the source. Here is the timeline of builds and their bugs:

tvengine3-11-25-2007--01-37h--Rev16563 - Last fully working build (channel changing time is excellent and multi-channel audio programs work)

tvengine3-11-26-2007--01-37h--Rev16567 - Partially working build (channel changing time has not changed, yet but multi-channel audio programs only playback ONE of the streams, no matter which one is selected)

Changelog for this build:
Quote:
tsreader 25/11/2007 [12:21:14] gibman added: fixed a problem when the PMT reports audio streams that are in fact not there. In this case the next valid audio stream is automatically chosen.
TVE2 25/11/2007 [20:41:11] MrHipp added: speedup teletext

tvengine3-11-27-2007--01-37h--Rev16576 - Partially working build (channel changing time has rised significantly AND multi-channel audio programs only playback ONE of the streams, no matter which one is selected... NOTE: The "loading animation" is not displayed anymore since the channel changing time rised significantly)

Changelog for this build:
Quote:
TsWriter 26/11/2007 [11:31:46] gemx added: Fixed decoding the star rating and MPAA descriptor
TVE3-EpgGrabber 26/11/2007 [11:37:03] gemx added: The EPG template field for starrating and Parental rating now default to an empty string instead of ""unknown""
Music 26/11/2007 [11:51:22] hwahrmann added: New bass_vis.dll supporting Milkdrop2
tsreader 26/11/2007 [13:04:42] Eabin added: fixed the slow seeking times that occured after timeshift buffer files were recycled
tvplugin 26/11/2007 [23:12:54] gibman added: now the 'AutoTurnOntv' setting is obeyed and interrupts any ongoing media playback when entering tvhome.
tvplugin 26/11/2007 [23:13:02] gibman added: recorded-tv fullscreen handler has been replaced with the one used in livetv. (check forum for more info).

tvengine3-11-28-2007--01-37h--Rev16580 - Partially working build (channel changing time is still as high as in previous build but multi-channel audio programs playback was fixed here even though there is nothing to be found about this in the changelog)

Changelog for this build:
Quote:
tvserver 27/11/2007 [22:05:42] gibman added: xmltv import plugin replaced with laban's improved version (also fixed a problem with CDATA tags).

tvengine3-11-29-2007--01-37h--Rev16582 - no change to previous build

Could you please fix this, thank you

-level20peon

EDIT: added logs for channel change with working (fast) switch and non working (slow) switch... btw: it doesn't matter whether the channel is scrambled or not...

It seems this one is the culprit;
tsreader 26/11/2007 [13:04:42] Eabin added: fixed the slow seeking times that occured after timeshift buffer files were recycled

the audio "fix" introduced by me was reverted silently by dman_lfc - as u have noticed.

Eabin, could it be your fix that is causing the delays ?

I have disabled eabins fix on the attached tsreader.ax
Try that one out.

I dont feel good about reverting it in SVN. It would be better if eabin could take a look on it.

Thanks for your answer. The attached TSReader.ax did not solve my problem. I copied it to the "\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal" directory. Afterwards I noticed that there is another TSReader.ax file in the TV Server directory so I overwrote this one, too... also without solving the problem (also without understanding why there are two of those).

PS: Restarting the TV-Service didn't change anything btw...

I really do think it is combination of TSwriter (or other component of server) and TSReader problem...

I was running SVN 16542 with success. But decided to test SVN 16582 because of Eabins fix with recycled timeshift files..
But then I encountered this slow channel changes.

So I tried this:
1. Used SVN 16582 server with tsreader SVN 16542 - still problem.
2. Used SVN 16542 server with tsreader SVN 16582 - still problem.

So only both server and client in earlier SVN worked.
Tested on single-seat setup.

I really do hope it is solvable without introducing the recycled timeshiftfiles bug again... (perhaps that is why the tsfilesource.ax was so slow to change channels...?)

Try this tswriter.ax rev. on server.

This is the tswriter before gemx did the star rating change.

try newest tsreader also.

The tswriter.ax didn't help either. I expected it not to since I discovered that it doesn't matter which TV-Server version I install but it DOES matter which TV-Servers PLUGIN is installed.

It would be interesting to find out if it is tsreader or tvplugin.dll.

Try and run an older vers. of tsreader along with the latest tvplugin.dll.
We need to find out which of the two is causing the problem.

Remember, when u install the tv client plugin tsreader.ax is overwritten with the one from the installer.

tvplugin.dll seems to be the black sheep. I just installed the "last working build" tvengine3-11-25-2007--01-37h--Rev16563... it still works (it's magic ).
I then replaced the tvplugin.dll with the one from tvengine3-11-29-2007--01-37h--Rev16582 and the "bug" appeared.

well it must be a side effect of on eof these 2;

"now the 'AutoTurnOntv' setting is obeyed and interrupts any ongoing media playback when entering tvhome."
"recorded-tv fullscreen handler has been replaced with the one used in livetv. (check forum for more info)."

I will have a debug session later today to see what's going on.

As a nice test, could u try and test the channel change speed when changing channel in tvhome (eg. not fullscreen).
How does it behave then ?
