Hi, I've got the TV server set up and working pretty well now with SVN tvengine3-01-10-2007--20-13h--Rev12599. I have managed to set a recording, quit MediaPortal on the client, come back and the recording is done, and plays fine on the client. However, when I try to hit fast forward or rewind to skip part of the recording, MediaPortal completely hangs, and has to be forceably quit. Apologies for not testing this with a newer SVN, but there seems to be a problem with those not streaming video. I haven't seen any other threads with a similar problem, or anything in the bugtracker. Log attached. Mark

Hi, I have repeated the test with tvengine3-01-14-2007--01-12h--Rev12625 and MediaPortal-svn--01-14-2007--01-03-Rev12625 installed on both the server and client machines. MP is not currently running on the server, but the TV service is. The problem is still there. I have attached full logs as produced by MPTestTool. From my own inspection of the logs, it is clear that there has been a problem detected. If I have misunderstood the requirements for submitting a bug report, please let me know so that I can be of more use! If I just play the recording normally on the client machine, it is fine. If I play the recording on the server, then I can fast forward through it as expected. I hope this helps. Mark

Hi, Is anyone else able to see this problem? Is anyone having this sort of setup working perfectly normally? I don't mind reporting bugs and trying new versions, but I don't feel very motivated to install a new SVN version when there's no reason to think that it will behave differently on my system. Sorry if this appears to be me being negative again. I'm not, and I really appreciate the hard work of the developers (and will be making a donation as soon as I clear my Christmas credit cards!). However, the only way that the bugs will get fixed is if people (like me!) report them. Inevitably there is the possibility that there will be something peculiar to my system which is causing the problem. Giving a bit of feedback as a matter of course would keep users motivated when there are these problems, and would ultimately help mediaportal. Is it worth having a standard policy of replying to bug reports with one of (a) you didn't provide enough information (b) there is nothing obvious in the log files and it works perfectly on our setup (c) there's a problem and we can reproduce it Again, I'm only making this suggestion in order to be of most use to the developers. Replies such as the above can be made by the community as well. I am certainly going to try to do this myself, where a bug is reported which can be verified (or not) on my system. I only hope that this will be helpful. Best wishes to all, Mark

Hi, I have just uninstalled my mediaportal setups on the server and client, deleted the mediaportal folders to make sure all settings have been cleared, rebooted and installed a fresh mediaportal 0.2.2 on both systems, followed by MediaPortal-svn--01-20-2007--01-01-Rev12679 and tvengine3-01-20-2007--01-12h--Rev12679. The TV engine has been fully configured on the server, and the client connects fine. However, when I try to switch live TV on on either the client or the server it hangs. Also, the problem which I have reported in this thread, that of a TV recording hanging as soon as I hit the fast forward button, is still there. I will check out the live tv hanging in a little while and post a bug report in a new thread. I haven't posted additional log files for the "fast forward" problem, as I have already posted log files above. If more are needed, please let me know. I assume from the lack of response that I am alone in having this problem. If someone else has the same problem, please can you let me know. Similarly, if what I am doing works fine on your system, a couple of data points would be useful, as I don't want to waste anyone's time. Best wishes, Mark

Country: | I think I had a similar problem; last weekend I installed the 13 January SVN, TVServer and plug-in and got itall to work. However, at the end of the week, having been away for a few days, I did notice that the Tvserver did not start automatically at boot even though it was set that way. I could start it manually but there was no TV on the client (black screen) and TvSetup.exe hanged if I pressed the 'Preview' button and probably in other circumstances I can't remember. The Tvserver process could not be stopped manually - only through TaskManager. I did try installing the latest SVN yesterday for all components but had no better results so I've now gone back to the 0.2.2.0 'stable release' which is working fine. Given that others do not have this problem, I assume that there is something wrong in my configuration somewhere. When I have a chance, and other serious bugs in the latest SVNs are resolved, then I'll try a clean re-installation. I do think MP is an excellent initiative and I look forward to its continuing improvement. Mike. |

The Problem with fastFF and rewind still exists for me with latest svn from mp and tvserver. When i press rewind, mp hangs and only task manager helps exiting mp.

Thanks for the additional data point. In my case, SVN 12736 (see my other post) doesn't play any MPEG2 video at all. From the SVN changelog, it looks like some or all of this issues have been fixed today. I have had fairly major problems with my server today, and will be busy for the next couple of days, but I will test and report back as soon as I am able. Mark

Okay, so I found the time to update to SVN 12745 on the client, and the problem is still there. Please don't think I am harping on about this because I'm annoyed about it. I just don't know how many people are having this problem, and if it is believed to have been fixed, so I am hopefully providing useful updates. So far, no one has come forward and said that with a DVB card, they can start to play a recording and hit forward fast and have it behave as expected. Anyone? Best wishes, Mark
