if you look at hd dvds you'll see that those also have menus and setting on top of currently running media. It's actually really usefull and intuitive IMHO as you don't have to change the whole screen just to change some setting, language etc (I know I could cycle through awailable subs / audio with direct keys but something you just want to select one from list).

ideed. i bought an HD-DVD player recently, and i realy like that menu(s).
