Hallo

- a "picture in picture" feature would be nice
- a button "setting actual channel as favourite" and a "return to favourite" would be nice
this means:
watching my favourite show make it favourite at this time
if advertisement appears: begin wild zapping through all channels and have the chance to retourn to my last favourite channel without scolling the past channel.

thanks for asking

You use left/right/up/down to navigate channel and programs and ff/rew to change days. Some button is dedicated to showing program info and record button brings a pop-up window with recording options.

Here's a link for the PlasmaEPG web site.

Best recording options window (when you hit rec button in EPG and maybe in live tv too) I've seen so far is in the Meedio TV (Never matured to be a good TV program...). I can't find a screenshot of it anywhere. I've attached a scetch of how it looked (use your imagination to add eye candy).

Buffers are added to the recording time before and after the program start and end times. Soft buffer (or was it called padding?) is something that is optional and can be skipped if other recordings require that. Hard buffer is something that has to be recorded even if it causes conflicts with other programs.

This is excatly what I'm hoping for the new MyTV. New EPG layout.

In Finland every channel have their logo on top right corner (I think every channel has in Europe/US). I've noticed that this logo disappears when ads starts.
So I was thinking if MP could monitor this logo while recording and stops recording when the logo isn't visible and starts again when visible. End result would be a recording without ads.

Is this possible?

I'm with Nicodemuz...
I'm a long time dreambox users and I think the Dreambox Gui is the best

I want the channel selection menu on the drembox style, too:

It works in this way: you press the UP button and move with up & down arrow on the channel you can see
(in the meanwhile you can see the aired show if the channel transmit epg data) and pressing OK you can see
the channel.
You can too select the view using the colored buttons:
Red All channels in alphabetical order,
Green: Sat If you have a multifeed system (maybe in MP can be a device menu: sat, cable, dtt, networks stream)
Yellow: For Provider (that is Sky, Mediaset, BBC and so on...)
Blue: Bouquets channels divided in the way you like...

It will be needed too a way to organize the channels on the configuration sections and maybe a way to import/export the settings created (as dreambox and other stb already do).

For the EPG I would use the guide (or info as in my dream remote) button not OK, Ok brings up the info banner

In this way I can renounce a day to my dreambox for MP on TV usage... for now I can't

Ahh obviously when I press my TV on the home menu I want to see TV fullscreen: the editable settings of that
screen should be integrated in the osd section pressing an apposite setting remote key (maybe menu remote key that opens a contextual menu as it does on the video section...)

An idea I would like to see is the Channel Groups in the TV Guide before the channels.

for e.g.

you get the options.

Entertainment
Sports
Movies
Kids

when clicked you get your channels.

Aha, now I see where the Vista MCE plugin Miraworldtv2 gets its interface.

Without actually having ever used dreambox, from what I see, I personally find it a little busy, requiring too many button-presses for simple navigation, and having not enough real estate to view the important info (which is the programming and its descriptions, as well as live tv, if I am watching something while browsing for what to watch/record next.)

1. Simple, One-Screen Layout with Channels, Live TV and Show Description:

I personally would prefer a conventional layout like the one below. Of course the colors/graphics can be better, and on a 16x9 screen it would show an extended timeline.

It shows live tv while you browse the guide, with the selected show description next to the live tv window.

2. Categories Bar:

You can have a thin bar across the very top of the screen, listing categories like All, Movies, News, Favorites, etc.. These should be selectable in Configuration.

While in the guide screen, you can scroll through the categories by using, say, the FF/RW buttons on the remote.

There should also be an option, selectable in Configuration, to have full screen channel listings (without the live tv/show description,) for those who prefer it.

3. IPTV:

This one would be really great, as someone already mentioned, but of course IPTV streams don't have guides (for now.)

Perhaps addresses could be entered manually and appear at the end of the guide, Then one could include them in their Favorites. Fast channel flicking would be screwed up by streams, so maybe there should be the option to exclude them from "live" channel changes.

And that's it.

Simple is good:-)

P.S. Why no option to record to MPEG-4? It's where things are going and encoders should catch up in the next year or two.

I would love to have an option to choose how many channels are displayed in the guide so I can adjust that based on my display - currently MP wide screen has about 10-12 channels at a time. I've got 32" LCD and it gets difficult to read from far. I know that it's a skin issue, but I was wondering if it is possible to make it plugin feature rather than a skin feature - so I could use any skin and customize number of channel in the guide.

Also, it would be nice to have an option to color code programmes in the guide with my own selection of colors based on a programme EPG data. So, for example, if I want all movies to be displayed in red, all TV shows in green, something else in some other color, etc, I could get a screen where I could specify that.. Would be really nice..

from my side a real good thing should be a complete integration of IP TV in the MYTV plugin wihout difference with other types of chanels.

I have a idea for the TV plugin:

TV chat: could we use a IRC server? A bot could create all channel we need : a channel per tv channel
In Tv plugin if Tv chat is active a signal could appear and if you want to chat with all other people who are looking the same channel, you just had to press a remote button .
We need to use a channel definition name for all possible name for the same channel to correspond with the IRC channel ID

I thinks that could improve the way that we could interact with our favorite TV channel ...

I've thought about something like that...

But maybe we should start a thread in the improvement section for this idea?
