Hi, would it be possible to have some features that LinuxMCE has.
I like the option of the 'follow me' that it does and the ability to start video or audio on certain clients from another client.
I have also asked in another thread, is it possible to have thin clients (with no operating systems) used on the TVserver similar to the LinuxMCE?

I'm one of those guys who prefers Live TV on when starting myTV.. BUT.. I also use myMovies to watch TV recordings. There are few problems with this though. 1) myMovies has no cropping like when used on myTV. 2) myMovies interface is not designed for recordings info.

Solution:

on Home screen, there are separate options for these:

-Live TV (in place of myTV, would allow user to enter TV recordings)

-TV recordings (schedule and watch recorded shows, also would allow user to enter Live TV)

-Movies (basically would be used only for DVDs and other video)

Nice and simple.

I like the Mediaportal concept very very much. The whole idea is to have a place to where you can select what you want to watch or listen to. I like the way it already is, but if people would like it to start in live tv fullscreen, then whynot make this an option as said before and also have a "Live TV" under the "MyTV" selection in the Home menu? I think this to was mentioned somewhere.
Anyway the tv part should be able to run as a service, so even if mediaportal is closed the tv recording service is still running just like GBPVR.

Hi all, haven't read any threads in here much, but would like to give some input on the new mytv if possible

TV and Recorded TV as seperate menu items

TV brings you straight to the list as before, with guide etc at the side, but no options to timeshift or turn tv on or off (always on). Timeshift to be set in config - why would you change it mid use ?

Basically just simplify how it works, record in a standard mpg, guide is fine as it is IMO, and ideally if possible, have it run smoother.

Here are my wishes:
- IPTV (with a favourite list or the favourites at the top of the list)
- A "Go to full screen TV" checkbox when TV is selected
- Record a scrambled stream which can be descrambled when played. This would be great for dual tuners. Legal in Sweden.
- An added menu button for a better overview of the EPG. I use a laptop in my couch to view the EPG from http://tvsajten.com/tb which I find has a good overview.
- An easy way to empty the database if a new "clean" channel scan is needed

Those are not encrypted. But those channels need some kind of modification at TS level to make them watchable.
Actually is supported for many plugins like vplug and for many viewers like hispadvb, even by some receivers like mvision and illusion.

a small request if i may...

i would like to be able to watch the recorded tv file if and when the current channel is being recorded in MY TV after MP is closed and run again...lemme explain with more detail


when using the MP tv server..i start a recording..then i close MP
then i open MP later on..the recording is still going...that works fine as normal =)
when i open up MY TV again..and turn the TV ON ..it starts a *NEW* timeshift file on the station im recording..meaning i cannot timeshift back to the beginning of the recording

a better option would be ....
when i turn the TV ON, the *Recorded TV* file is used instead...as u can timeshift back further than when the TV was turned on (which could be half way through a show)

this would make it possible to :
start MP, start a recording
turn TV off / watch another video file / close MP
...go back to MY TV
turn on MYTV which returns you to the *live stream*
timeshift back to the beginning of the recording and watch the show from there

as it is now i can go into the "Recorded TV" section and start the created file and watch from there....it would just be nice tho to be able to watch from the beginning of the show from MY TV as if MP was not stopped and started....i like to watch other shows when i record something with the server....

it seems appropriate as the tv server is still a service in the background as i dont need to be watching the show to be able to record...or even have MP switched on

what do u guys think?

I believe that a PARENTAL CONTROL should be implemented since we all have/will have children's in home some day...

It could be based on time (for good channels that after 10:00 PM start some strong content) with a PIN code, and for movie based on the IMDB data.

Have you guys seen this way of browsing pictures? Its a program called gpuviewer at http://www.gpuviewer.com/

It bascially scans your pictures directory and clusters each group of pictures by year. You can zoom in to the year and it then dynamically splits into months, further zooming gives you days (it overlays a calendar and shows thumbs of pictures taken on that date. You can keep zooming right to an individual picture and magnify it. Have a mess around with it. Take a look at the screenshots on there, however its MUCH better if you install it and play with it. Its so smooth at zooming in and is a great way to view pictures.

It would be awesome if Mp could adopt this view method as an option in the my pcitures submenu. LIke "view timeline" button takes you to this view. No idea if this is possible to integrate into mediaportal though?

Also:
1) Provide a key mapping option to cycle through "sort by" modes (album/artist/genre etc) in my music and movies

2) Provide a key mapping option to cycle through "icon view" modes (filmstrip/list/big icons/album view) in my music, movies and pictures.

3) Provide a COMMON info key in my tv, my music, my video etc. EG when browsing mp3s and one is highlighted, pressing F3 should bring up an OSD with all tag info in it. Whilst in my videos pressing f3 should bring up the info page for that. Whilst viewing tv fullscreen and video fullscreen pressing f3 should bring up OSD with info in it. Whilst browsing programmes in tv guide or browsing list of movies in my videos pressing f3 should bring up info for that. Display exif info in my pctures when f3 is pressed either when browsing it should give exif info for highlighted pic, or when in fullscreen or slideshow it should bring up OSD with exif info.

4) My remote is very sensitive to left and right arrow presses (its the imon remote with a single pad for up down left right). When scrolling up and down long lists eg in my music a slight press of the left or right by mistake takes me off the list and onto the page up page down icons or onto the left hand menu. Its quite annoying and yes i know its my fault. However any ideas how to avoid this? Perhaps by a re-position of the page up page down icons? The page up page down icons I assume are for mouse operations only. So why not remove them when the option to display or not display mouse controls is selected in config? I never use them with the remote or keyboard. That way, if I accidentally press right on my remote, it wont jump to these icons if they are not there. Do you know what I mean? Is this possible?
