Default hauppauge (T-500 pci card) remote not working

I can only get the directional keys + ok + power + volume buttons to work in MP.

I have tried the latest drivers from Haupauge and the drivers sugggested within the MP setup but neither solve the problem?

Anyone found a set of drivers that work? What am I doing wrong please? I really want the back & play functions on the remote to work!

I have seen this thread, but again no help... hauppauge 45 button remote not working

Cheers,
Dan

Just installed RC2 of media portal.

Using WinTVCD4_6b, choosing driver only installation (t500 drivers themselves have not changed in over 18 months) and the newer ir32.exe (browse cd) it works fine here with XPsp3.

Have you got the hauppauge TV software installed, because that may be interfering with MP's use of the driver.

Interestingly if Hauppauge remote is chosen and you open MP config, the icon disappears from systray, once config closes icon reappears, so that tells you there is a connection between the two.

It's a long time since I used the Nova-T remote but the problem I had with mine was not plugging it in correctly. The mini jack plug of the IR receiver overlapped very slightly with the PCI slot housing on the PC which meant it was not firmly seated in the mini jack socket. To use the technical term - I gave it a shoogle - and then it worked.

Sometimes it's the simplest things...

Yep, one really badly placed connector, but amazingly it worked first time on this install

Thanks for the input guys. The latest drivers I have installed are called "Nova-T-500_4_3_25080_WHQL" are these not the same as you install.

No I did not install the software, just the drivers. Then tried the ones suggeted by MP (still no good), the the ones above which also did not help.

I have no icon appearing in my system tray though, but it does work to some degree just not all the buttons!

I am so close to having the perfect setup (MP is ace!!) just need to get the rest of the buttons on the remote working!

Cheers,
dan

Yep, those are the ones i have installed for both Vista and XP.

If you have the latest version installed of ir32 from the cd download, you should have a remote icon in systray.

I also assume you've got the extracted hauppauge folder in the root of C:\ where you can access the ir32.exe, which then creates the start menu WinTV folder, where you can see the 2 remote icons.

Also a reboot sometimes helps, btw what OS are you running this on.

fixed

Well what do you know....

Turned the pc on today and I now have the IR icon in the system tray. Started MP and...... it works!!! Just needed a reboot after installing the IR driver is seems. I am one happy bunny now.... cheers!

One quick question... how do I map a button to open and close MP? That would be the icing on the cake!

Dan
