Default Is it possible to read analog vcr signal using dvb-t card

I have a vcr sending a signal on UHF CH36 through a standard coaxial antenna cable to my dvb-t pci tv card.
First: Is this even possible?
If possible, how can I set up mediaportal/tvserver to receive the signal?
I have no problem receiving normal tv broadcast - the 'scan for channels' button in tv server configuration worked for those, but those are digital.

I have tried searching both the forum and the wiki for a while now, and I can't find the information i need. If anyone knows the answer, or could point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.

Hi Zaz,
a simple answer? No.
You need an analog or hybrid card.

Thanks for the quick response.

If I buy a hybrid card, how much work will be required to get it to work as I want it?

It should be pretty straight forward if your vcr transmits a strong enough signal. You'll probably find better quality through a composite cable or svideo if your vcr/capture card can work with them. Most capture cards will at least capture your signal via composite (single yellow cable) and then your stereo cables for audio.

Good luck.

I don't know if a card which acquire from antenna cable exists.
Commons cards use s-video input.
Maybe you also need some external hardware adapter.
Be careful to choose the right analog card.
Many cards will not work with MP.
It's better an analog card with hardware encoder, but it's more expensive than software ones.

I hope I helped you.
Bye.

Make sure to get a hardware encoding analogue card (very few hybrids have this feature), as software encoding cards are not always easy to get to work with MP.
