Lightbulb Brightness problem (at least for me) solved!

Hi guys,

I have recently installed MP and had terrible problems concerning the brightness of movies. The problem had to do with VMR9 Renderer and SD colour levels (BT.601) where black was 16 instead of 0, white 235 instead of 255. For ATI graphics card owners, I have found a registry hack that solves the problem.

Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Video\{GUID}\0000

where GUID is the long string in which the folder 0000 contains a lot of registry entries.

Add the string (or what is it called in English) "UseBT601CSC" and set it to "1".

Reboot your system afterwards.

For a more detailed description, have a look at:
AVS Forum - View Single Post - ATI Radeon HD 2X00 (2400,2600,2900) series owners thread

I hope this helps you. It worked for me!

Regards,

Thank you for sharing
(Although these ATi HD registry hacks has been posted in this forum for many months now - most of the hacks are now no longer needed)

I believe to have read, while searching for a solution for my problem with ATI, that there is a similar hack for nVidia. I will have a look if I can find something and report back.

Edit: Have a look at http://forum.inmatrix.com/lofiversio...php?t5661.html. I hope this does the trick, but it seems to only apply to DVI output.
