Default Textbox with fixed character width - possible?

I don't know if this fits best here or in the plugin section, anyway, here's my problem... I'm currently working on a plugin and have only one problem left unsolved before it's finished. I need to display a textbox with a font with fixed character width (Courier New for example). The default fonts in all skins have non fixed character widths and I wonder if I can override that in some way. If this is not possible, can I use any control other than textbox to show my text with fixed character width?

Thanks

Simply add a new font in font.xml and use that one.
