Strange behaviour of now playing

I got a strange behaviour with music now playing - configured it "now playing always". If I play an album (folder) with play button the now playing screen appears as usual, but if the track ends and switches to the next track, the now playing screen ends and the folder view appears. I have not experienced this behavior earlier. I updated some hardware and did a new clean install of xp + MediaPortal + latest svn.
If I switch next on the remote, before the track ends the next song is played and now playing screen is still there.
I use the internal dx player - not the bass engine.
