Default Videos wont play in mediaportal

when i first installed mediaportal it would play videos in the video screen, it since stopped so i re-installed and it didin't fix the issue. I have tried selecting different codecs but it has no effect.

When i select a video to play it apears to freeze while it attempts to load the video, eventually nothing loads up and mediaportal acts as if nothing has been pressed.

Hi,

please provide more information about your system specs (hard- and software). Like MP version, windows version, installed codecs, type of video you wanna play (avi/divx/xvid/mpeg), CPU, RAM, graphics card, etc.

Take a look into your "User CP" of the forum. You can easily fill out your system specs there. They will be automatically added to support requests!

Flip.

PS: Moved to support section.

hello, no file types will play.

codecs in mediaportal which i have tried:
mpa decoder
dscaler audio decoder
windvd7 decoder filters
mpv decoder
dscaler video decoder
intervideo video decoder

i have listed some of my system specs. Although since videos were originally playing it rules out any hardware conflictions.

Hi,

I do not see any system specs?

And since MP uses DX9 and VMR9 technology it can depend on your hardware. Please let us decide, if it is relevant or not. Every information can narrow the problem down.

Also attach you MediaPortal logs.
- start MP
- try playing a video
- stop MP
-> /Team MediaPortal/MediaPortal/logs/

Flip.

I have the exact same problem, i havent changed anything, it worked yesterday, and today it doesnt work.

one thing i have noticed is that it wants to play all my videos from "00:01" or any other location, but mostly just one second in into the movie. It doesnt matter if i choose yes or no at the question.

Som videos seems to work, but about 90% doesnt anymore.

regards
/Danjel

I have the same problem. I even uninstalled everything and reinstalled it. Straight after installation, it plays all movies. Some days later, it stops playing some of the mp4 movies. The strange thing is that I encoded 2 movies with Nero recode....1 works, the other doesn't. They all play when I try them in WMP 11. Then there is this other problem where DX50/divx files are blank in full screen but are visible when in the menu in the little preview window.

I am using ffdshow codecs release on 27-Jan-2007. Running Windows XP.

A little update:

I uninstalled mediaportal, and installed it again, no difference.
I then downloaded the last catalyst driver for my radeon x1300 series card, and then some of the videos started working again, but with heavily distorted video. It almost seemed like there was bad reception on a digital channel.

I then installed the divx codec, and then all of a sudden everything works again.

anyway im glad i didnt had to reinstall the whole machine.

Regards
/Danjel
