Something like that. I do not know what is really going on to put terms to all of that. I say all of that because maybe you can get yours to stop responding to the mouse stick in Notepad when iMon Manger is off by trying this. I do believe that is what cybrmage wants as the state of the stick when iMon Manger is off. I will play around with this more and see if I can come up with some exact steps. That being said it is confusing that this is the default state we want as when I do get my pad to act like this it makes the keyboard/mouse button not funcion as far as it does not change the mode anymore. To get the button back functioning I have to turn on and off Frontview to make the stick function actually work and toggle when iMon Manger is running. To be clear it seams to me that when the stick is working correctly to me that a side effect is the stick still moves when iMon Manger is closed. Last edited by Tide; 2008-04-16 at 04:14.

Country: | - Started with mouse stick not showing input from the pad and iMon Manager closed. - Started HID test - Pressed all buttons - Unplugged USB - waited for sound (Only hear on beep - sometimes it is 2 quick beeps - I am guessing this is where you say USB logger) - Plug USB back in - hear beep - pressed more buttons in HID test When I unplugged the USB and plugged it back in my LCD screen went from blank (because I had shut down Frontview in iMon Manager) to showing the clock. Also when I shut down the HID test my mouse stick was back to responding to input with iMon Manager closed and the HID test off (Opposite of what we want - correct?). In "Mode 1", with iMon not running, the mousepad should NOT control the mouse pointer.... In "Mode 2", with iMon not running, the mousepad should control the mouse pointer.... We need the device in "mode 1"..... I think that, with all the testing and logs and discussions.... that I have lost track of the actual operational characteristics of each device and version of iMon Manager..... So... please do the following: 1) run iMon Manager 2) set the remote to mouse mode 3) with iMon Manager still running, run test app 17 4) move the pad controller 5) post the log thanks. In V6, if Frontview is set to never (turned off), the pad works in the last mode that it was in (keyboard or mouse). In V7, if Frontview is set to never (turned off), it always throws the pad back into "mouse mode" ie controlling the mouse, even though it was set to control the keyboard prior to turning off. I think the reason is because the V7 software resets the mode of the device to mode 1 (input from raw HID device only), whereas V6 leaves the device in mode 2 (input from 3 devices). As cybrmage said, Soundgraph are constantly changing the behaviour of their software. At least that's how it behaved on my system, which again is different firmware to yours as I'm running VFD and you're running LCD.

| Portal Member | Log file forthwith..... After starting iMON (which was set for keyboard mode), I pressed the toggle button to switch to mouse mode, checked mouse pointer moved, then started the test program. Hope I haven't confused things here, but just to be clear, when my system boots up without iMON Manager ever starting, the result is that the pad controls the mouse and does not do cursor movements. On my system, the PAD either does one or the other. It never does nothing (ie not respond). You have to open notepad and enter some spaces and lines to see the cursor movement working, or use some other program that can demonstrate a cursor movement key. |

The logs shows reports from the mousepad (PAD controller) via the "HID Remote" device... but it does NOT show that the device is sending and keyboard reports..... Good.... Then you can explain it to me.... 8-} According to the logs.... The device seems to be operating the way we need it to operate... so you can stick with V7.... The driver just uses it as a "helper"... Ok.. so we have that issue taken care of (for now...) Can you both run test 17 again, and this time press just the number keys... thanks....

Country: | For those interested in helping with the USB logging for these (or any other) devices... I use a logging program called "Bus Hound"... It can log from just about any bus on the system (except PCI / PCI-E)... It is rather expensive, but they have a free version available (restricted, but functional)... The website is PeriSoft... doenload the "try" version... globaldonkey and tide: Prepare iMon Manager... run it and make sure that it is set on "Keyboard" mode. then shut it down.\ Once you have it installed, run it... click on "Devices"... It will display the device tree for your system... look for "HID compliant device" and click on it... If you have more that one HID device on your system, you will have to verify the correct device by checking the Hardware ID in the properties window at the bottom of the screen... (you are looking for "Vid_15c2&Pid_0036&MI_01" or "Vid_15c2&Pid_0038&MI_01") Once you have found the correct device, click on the checkbox beside the device. Then, click on "Capture". Then click on "Run", then start iMon Manager... Once iMon manager has started, go back to Bus Hound and click on "Stop", then click on "Save" and save the log... Then post it here... Thanks!! |

Country: | Here is 17 with just the numbers pressed (well * and # too). Regaurding Bus Hound. I have a internal PCI USB card that I have the iMon connected to. It has 1 internal port and 4 external. Given your statement about PCI/PCI-E, will this work with Bus Hound? |
