If you had read back through the thread, you would see that this has already been discussed...

At the moment, we are trying to get the display and the remote control fully functional.... That is the priority... other embelishments will be considered after the priority work is completed.

THX Cybermage, I know that it IS priority no.1. So thank you that my idea was get for sb's information. Sorry for interrupting, I've had urge to reply to that super solution gaved me by Herr R aus B

Yo! We're geting somewhere.

The remote still doesn't function as nothing happens in MP, but the standby sequence seems to be OK now. The display is on, the indicator LED is lit and it definately can be woke up using the remote. After being back online the display also is reinitialized correctly. I tested this now several times - works. The only issue is, that i get a warning saying, that some network drives lost there connection (HTPC accesses data on another windows machine and from a samba server on a third machine). But that also happened with MHC so I guess it's a windows problem.

Now we still don't know what 0xA4 0x7E is. Maybe it is "switch on internal standby display" and then the 0xA4 {8 bytes} sets the internal clock and 0xAE definately swithces on the device's standby mode?

Definately not as this 0x0B obviously never changes...

You know I was sitting here thinking that this 28 and 31 tells me something. I had that strong feeling, I knew these numbers... But what the heck... days in month! Of course! As you did all this (really unnecessary!) self bashing regarding all this bugs you coded in the last 2 versions, which was no problem at all, now it's up to me to do some self bashing for being absolutely stupid, ignorant and blind

No - some tool called "Device Monitoring Studio 5.22" by HHD software. Thesy also have a free serial monitor, but that one refuses to run under XP64 due to wrong security settings, which are exactly set as the software needs it. Obviously not supporting XP64 properly...

I am a computer scientist with a university degree -somethingsimilarto amasters degree. I am in IT business since prox. 20 years. Started as student working during undergrade days, then 7 years as programmer for some companies and IBM, then technical project leader for IBM, software development leaderfor an international klogistics company and now I am doing IT strategy for the federal state of Berlin, setting up a so called egovernment service platform. All SOA based as in setting up lots of SOAP based web services. I lead that project, mke some 20 ppl from different companies work and have all these negotiations with politicians and customers and bla... This experience might be helpful to find a job in Canada plus the fact that I somehow speak German fluently... I wonder why...

Well - somehow we spent the last three days together in a way - there should be room for different things aside bits and bytes - shouldn't it?

Not that again! You're doing the coding, I am doing the testing. I regard this being a good example of international team work. Is fun! And when I am getting tired a take a break and I hope you are doing the same! The last two versions were rather buggy, but I know that from my coding days. Everything works well and then suddenly it's getting worse and worse - clear signal, that you have been coding too much and lost concentration... No problem at all to me. We still are not in any customer / deliverer situation where i can come up with demands. As this is a free software project I am very happy, that you invest all the time. So it's a natural thing that I make some efforts, too. I will never understand these ppl who get in forums like that with a rather demanding attitude like "This doesn't work, you have to fix it now - if not you and the software suck!" - I mean, if these ppl paid some bigger amount of money, that might be acceptable - but as nobody has to pay for it, the ppl using the software should support the ppl coding it...

If only I hadn't screwed that COM port analyzer...

And I wish I would be able to do the coding myself. When this is done, we might discuss, how to set up a proper development environment. Once I#Ve downloaded this MS Express 2005 edition. Just saw, there is the 2008 version out. I wonder whether that's sufficient for coding in the MP context, cbeause being for free it might be interesting...

Hi !

I was expecting for a long time this possibility to manage my M-play blast display through Media Portal.
And I should say that you (developers and testers) made a very good job for this.

I tried today the last version from this thread and could observe that the management of the fans doesn't seems to work for me.
Each time MP starts, the fan1 stops. And that for every kind of configuration.

Please let me know if you need more informations.

TIA
Cheers.

Hi!

I took a look at your log. It says, that you've set fan control for fan 2 to manual and fan 1 to automatic. The log says, that temp sensor 1 delivers 0°C - must be cold at your place I've just checked my last log and saw that both temp sensors report 0°C - according to the log that is.... As I have some 20°C in my room I guess that in this version the input handling of the COM port is still buggy as there is no remote support neither. We will have to wait util the next version. Btw. try to download this older version - there the input from the remote works and also the fan control should be OK...

Greetings

Axel

Funny! If you are at work, then use your break as a break - we all can wait! Thank you anyway

Hi !

Thanks to both for your fast reply.

I tried the new version from Cybrmage.
Unfortunately this didn't solve my fan's problem.

I could see in the log that it seems that MP doesn't get any temperature information

"2008-01-02 20:20:27.484375 [Info.][ExternalDisplay]: VLSYS_Mplay.SetFanSpeed() Using automatic setting for Fan1: temp = 0, speed = 0 (Temp data not yet valid)"

If I configure to manual 50%, the fan stops also, till MP is closed.

Any hint ?
