OptimusPrime: Yes... that is the log I wanted, Thanks!... Unfortunately, it still does not show that MHC sends any fan control commands to the display.

The display anomolies you are getting with "AUTOMATIC" mode are due to the automatic device detection not working... yet... Please try the new version....

Do the fan control options work when you manualy select your display type???

CybrMage

Yes... The fan speed is shown as changing, but MHC is not sending any fan speed commands to the display.

MHC is sending (after startup and before shutdown)
A0 - clear display
A1 00 A7 ... - display text on line 1
A2 00 A7 ... - display text on line 2
AD - define custom characters
AF - request temperature report

But it is not sending fan speed control commands (AC XX YY)

It doesn't seem to be sending any commands for fan control.

This lead me to beleive that MHC is communicating directly with the fan controller over the USB bus rather than the serial port.

If the manual fan control options in the driver work to control fan speed, this can be overcome.

How does the device appear in device manager? does it appear as a USB Composite device? Does it install more than one virtual serial port?

This is normal... "USB Serial converter" is the parent device, and the "USB Serial Port" is the child virtual comm port.

What shows up under "Human Interface Devices"??

That means the M.Play blast either has the fan control as a seperate device, or the fan control command is not the same as for the OEM M.Play devices.

Here is another attempt to fix the automatic device detection.

What logging program are you using??? If it supports other types of logging, can you log data from the "USB Serial converter" device?
