OK, now it loads but then we got problems with new features but this is busines as usual during r&d phase

It seems that configuration is saved correctly to ExternalDisplay_vlsys_mplay.xml but is not read or distributed to driver. I have equalizer and dim display during video enabled.

/m

The logs look ok...

Remember, I do not have one of these displays... so you will need to be a little more descriptive of what the display is doing... (IE: does the display actually display anything??? You play a video and the title and play time is displayed... but the display does not dim after 30 seconds... etc)

You don't get the equalizer display because the equalizer data is only provided by the Bass Audio system... and the Bass audio system is only active when playing music files, not when playing video...

As for dimming the display... Please enable "extensive logging", then play a video... then post the mediaportal.log... Thanks!

CybrMage

Just like you described. Title and time displayed without dimming.

Maybe I shouldn't mention this at all as log was from movie playing. I didn't expect to have eq while video is playing. But I tried also this with music without eq, just title and time.

That log was taken with full info: general setup with info and display plugin as extended.

Ok... I forgot to change the text in the logging 8-}...

In which case, you were right... It is ignoring the equalizer and advanced display control options...

A new version is now available...

Default Testing CybrDisplay 20080129c

Yo!

I did some testing - here are the results:
  • Couldn't realize any behaviour different from the modified VL drivers
  • The problem with the reinitialization of the display after returning from standby not triggered by the remote remains (if you need a special log on that issue, let me know)
  • EQ probably doesn't behave as intended - see attached pictures right after starting a song and µ-movie recorded while playing a song - is the EQ supposed to display the two stereo channels or are the user defined characters misplaced when the respective frequency band peak exceeds the lower text line? I strongly assume the latter...
  • minor issue: the display is called MR300 instead of MP300

I didn't do any explicit testing of fan control - if that's needed, let me know and just as you started this neat EQ display stuff - what about a horizontal stereo amplitude peak meter?

Regards

Axel

PS: If you keep going on with that kewl coding stuff, you'll sooner or later need your own web page and user forum and even more, the CybrDisplay will beat MediaPortal's popularity

What?!?! Equalizer and display control aren't different???? 8-}
(speaking about display blanking... does it work??)

Yes... I will need logs with MediaPortal running when the machine goes to standby and when it comes out of standby.. and a detailed description (with photos if possible) of what is displayed on the display when it restarts.

The code behaves exactly as intended... The display doesn't behave as expected though... minor problem... the new version should fix it.

He who is without typing errors should cast the first spelling corrections.... MR300... MZ4... Do you know why it's called the MP300???

Testing the fan control would be good... but I still think

Probably not going to happen... the Bass audio engine does not reliably provide FFT data for individual channels...

Grrrrr I meant not different as in no new bugs eventho more features nice features, if working properly display turns absolute dark if video plays.

no prob - i did the follwing testing:
  1. MP started at ~ 16:43 -> regular display
  2. PowerScheduler sent MP to standby at ~ 16:54 -> standby display as shown in attached pic (sorry for the rather poor quality), which shows the usual standby content with the display being dimmed to 25% and showing the time in large characters, the word "standby" in the upper line and the current date in the lower line
  3. PowerScheduler woke up MP at ~ 16:57 -> display remains in standby mode (see above)
  4. MP started recording "rbb aktuell" at ~ 16:59 -> display remains in standby state (see above)
  5. Herr R aus B woke up display by hitting the PwrOff button of the remote at ~ 17:00 -> regular display
  6. Herr R aus B manually shut down MP at ~ 17:09 -> display goes back to standby mode (see above)
See also attached log file.

Not really. The contents of the rows seem to be OK but the rows obviously are in the wrong order as in lower line content goes to upper line and vice versa - see attached video.

thinking ppl are most sympathetic to me - especially if i know WHAT they are thinking - what are you thinking? how should auto fan control testing should be arranged to be helpful to you?

misunderstanding? i was talking a plain peakmeter for amplitude as in volume, but not the peaks of the EQ bands. i dont think, you'll need fast fourier transformation to display the amplitude of each channel, do you?

Good... That is the intended behaviour (if you have selected the "blank display" option...)

hmm... that shouldn't be happening... Can you check with todays version and see if it's still doing that...

The Equalizer display requires FFT processing to extract the frequency spectrum... The Bass audio engine provides the FFT data as an representation of ALL channels over 1024 frequency points in the Audio spectrum... To display this data, we divide the 1024 frequency into 16 bands and average the FFT values.
The VU Meter requires the FFT data of each individual channel... The Bass audio engine will provide the FFT data for individual channels but, from what I've been able to determine, the data returned doesn't seem to correspond to the audio heard. To display the VU Meter, we take the maximum value of all ranges for each channel.

I suppose that the VU Meter display could also be derived from the raw sample data for each channel, but that would make the processing more involved. (The Bass documentation indicates that the sample data reflects the state of the audio playback buffer at the time of the call to the Bass library (and returns a variable sized data array), whereas the FFT data is windowed (and will always return a fixed size data array)...

Check out todays version of the driver...

Features just keeps coming

Vu meter crashes MP. It seems that I'm the first testing level to get this running and Herr R&B finalizes it - hehee!
