Default Antec Fusion v2 IR - How to use w/MediaPortal

*I know I read some simular threads about this, but I can't retrieve them (only found threads in German)*

Hello!
I am setting up a MP-based HTPC for a friend, using the popular Antec Fusion (v2/430). These cases got built-in IR-receiver, but they don't work very well with MP. (I read that they worked OK with MCE). The reason for this is, if I got it right, that the receiver reads and/or sends IR-commands as keystrokes.

Anyway, the result is that stuff like the green-button, back etc. does not work. There is no way to re-map commands. Only thing that work, from what I have read, is using a patch for installing iMon software. (Puke).

Anyway:
If you have this case (or experience with it) - how did you solve this?

(Btw: Shame on you Antec!)

Damn... what a coincidence - just found the thread. I think I'm gonna collect relevant threads here (since this is such a popular case, I guess many people are going to get a headache over this...).

Hi Spragleknas, did you get it to work? I had given up on this one and my Harmony 555, and just got an approved return because of the bad display and unstable softwarem but if this work and the iMon patch enable customizing I migt consider to keep the box.

Yes.

If/When needed, I'll explain in detail (no time now, I'm afraid).

Great Spragle, I've decided to keep the Fusion as you can't beat the price/look with or without display anyway.
I would love a solution that works.

I've got it all to work. (With a little help from Cygermage's post

Both the IR with the MCE-remote and the display in MediaPortal.
Thanks anyway Spragleknas.

1. Uninstall Antec's VFD program and drivers.
2. Download Soundgraph iMon 6.01.0122 from here
3. Install the program without the iMEDIAN program (or with if you like it) and let it update to the last version.
4. Close the program in systray if it starts
5. Extract my attached file and run iMONPatch.exe (this will allow you to run the iMON software on a Antec case.
6. Reboot
7. Start iMON Manager
8. Go to iMON Utilities and select FrontView "run FrontView When iMON Starts" = Never
9. Go to Settings and select MCE Remote (and press Apply)
10. From now on you can go to the Program Command (in settings) and map MediaPortals keyboard shortcuts or extract the supplied MCE remote.zip to your Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON\Setup\ (MCE remote). (Note: Not all buttons are mapped, but you get the picture)
11. To enable the VFD in MediaPortal start MediaPortal Setup.
12. Go to the plugins Right Click on the External Display module and select Disable (this will actually enable it).
13. Right click again and select Configuration.
14. Select the SoundGraph iMon USB Driver V1.0, Port = USB. Leave the rest as it is.
15. Powerdown your computer and disconnect the power for a minute. (to clear the clock in the display)
16. Start up and all will work (Hopefully)

Thank you for saving me the time!

Also:
- Remove Antec software from startup (use MSconfig or app)
- About 14: I believe this has been altered in later SVN (1.0 did not work - 1.1. did, but not perfect)

I installed following your instructions but the remote only works with arrow keys and power down. other keys are not recognized. I tried with th ehome ir receiver which comes with the remote and it works with mostly al important keys, but not with the built-in ir receiver. should i try to use the antec software instead of the soundgraph with the patch or why cant' I get the other keys working?

regards

Yuo have to add Mediaportal in iMon software (as an application).
You do not need eHome or other drivers. Only iMon.
