How to make my Vista Remote work ?

Hi,

First, thanks for Media Portal, I'm really fond of this wonderfull software !!

I bought a Vista Remote "without drivers".
Except I thought I was buying a MCE remote.
Not the same at all apparently.

So the USB IR receiver is detected as " Snowflake Emulation" and I have no driver to provide.
I'm using the latest version of Media Portal on XP.
This is the remote :
Trust - Wireless Vista Remote Control RC-2400

Can anyone help me please ?

Hi,

Is it listed under Device Manager\HID or Keyboard, do up\down\ok keys work (even on this webpage)

Nope it is not.
Is is under unknown device and named SnowFlakeEmulation.
I DO need the f*** driver for XP.

No, the Vista Remote Control only works under Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate

without a relevant driver, do not know if any software will link to this, even Girder, but might be worthwhile dowloading a trial version to see if it picks it up, available here

Other choices, send it back or give to someone with vista.

The MCE replacement driver might work for this, that would let you use it with lots of 3rd party software (like girder, HIP, or IR Server Suite).

Does a Vista remote controller work with MP with Vista? I guess I can set only MCE remote in the Configuration of MP.

Would it work with the Antec Fusion case with integrated IR receiver? Or I have to use the IR Dongle of the Remote?

Yes, still ehome receiver, just Vista's specific version, this would need the Vista receiver.

May work Antec IR, if it does not try and-81's mce replacement driver
