Slim USB IR Remote - can this be used in MediaPortal?

Hi, first time poster here - excellent software by the way. I have the following remote control:

Can this be used in MediaPortal with the use of a plugin/third party application? It currently does not work and I have tried various remote settings. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

I don't know if the developer of the plugin for remote support (and-81) reads in this section. I would have posted in ::this forum area:: But then please don't multiple post. It may take someone time to notice this thread due the work going on with 0.2.3.0 - trying to clean up the code for release.

EDIT:

Looks like we should be able to support that very easily. I'll make a first attempt plugin (without having one myself I can't be 100% sure it will work) and get you to try it out. I might then send you a program to collect all the button codes to create an input mapping file.

I'll post back as soon as I have something you can test.

hey, I'm glad you replied. I'd forgotten to post my first attempt at the plugin for it ...

I've attached it to this post. I don't have one of these devices so please be patient if it doesn't work.

Unzip the file and put the dll in:
\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Plugins\Process\

Put the xml file in:
\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\defaul ts\

Load MediaPortal configuration and make sure the plugin is enabled. Then load MediaPortal and see if it works.

If it doesn't work then please send me your mediaportal.log and error.log files.

If it doesn't work then I'll send you a debug program to collect more information for me if that's ok.

If it does work then I'll look at extending it to support the different variants of this remote type.

Hi,

I installed the plugin as per your instructions and have a few problems with my PC since which I cannot confirm are related. After rebooting I got a green screen as if something was wrong with the graphics card so I rebooted to last known working configuration but now MediaPortal hangs when it gets to the point "loading plugins" and I have to ctrl+alt+delete to shut it down. Do you want me to send you the error logs? Where are they located?

It doesn't look like it's my plugin doing it, but I'll run some more tests to be sure.

The error in your log file is showing that it can't setup your tv card properly.

I'll take another look at the plugin to make sure there's nothing wrong there, but in the meantime could you try disabling your tv card and seeing if it will get into mediaportal then?
