Default Black TV when in full screen mode.

MediaPortal Version: SVN 12119
MediaPortal Skin: BlueTwo
Windows Version: Windows XP Pro SP2
CPU Type: Intel Mobile Celeron 1.7 GHz
Memory: 512
Motherboard: ASUS P4S800-MX SE
Video Card: Sis 661fx (64 MB)
1. TV Card: PVR 150 lp
1. TV Card Type: Analog
MPEG2 Video Codec: MPV

Some times I get only black screen when entering mytv. The sound is there though. Switching to home and back again sometimes puts the picture back on, and the problem only exists when mediaportal is in fullscreen mode, but with both the TV windowed and full screen (inside mediaportal). It happens most often when recording shows, but the shows record fine. They can afterwards be played outside of mediaportal with no problems, but only if your lucky with mediaportal.
I have installed the latest svn but this was only because I had the same problem with the stable releases. Have anybody got the same problem or knows how to fix it? I have got complaints about my graphics card before, but when the tv works it works great and I can play divx/avi with no problems, so I dont think that is the issue. I have attached the log files: everything is switched and in home. Then I enter mytv which is automatically running with black screen, but good sound.

I have the same problem as well. If you de-select "Exclusive use of DirectX" in the configuration (sorry can't remember exactlywhat screen that is on I think it is in the general tab) then that should fix it although then you might get the tearing problem.
I have seen many people with this problem but have not seen a definitive explanation from any of the devs, so can't help any more than this.

I have the same thing, If I hit Alt Enter to switch to window mode and then alt enter again, I get a picture. This also does this watching DVD's and movie files as well. This only started happening for me with 0.2.2.0.

Hi Guys

I had the same problem until I fiddled with the default screen size under the capture-cards settings. Try changing the values to different sizes until you find one that works.

Cheers

I had the same problem - but solved it another way!

I realised that the problem (in my case anyway) was caused by the DPI setting (in advanced settings for display!)

I had set it to 120 DPI (instead of the normal 96 DPI)

But I had to make a new install anyway (I had done that several times before changing the DPI, so that was not the 'cause')

I hope this helps!

Thanks, I have mine set to 120 DPI and did it about the same time I installed 0.2.2.0 (makes it easier to read on a 37" from 10' away. I'll change it back and see if that helps.

Playing around with DPI's didn't do anything to me. However it's clear something went wrong from the moment I introduced the TV set into play and then told my video card to use the s-video to the TV-set.
I must add that it's weird hiw I could workaround this swithcing between video/TV/DVD till I got something in full screen.

Finally, I found a trick that works much better: disabling the use of exclusive Direct-X in the general configuration!

@ggt-labz

well the problem is that you might want to use exclusive direct x because it avoids "tearing" (horizontal stripes in the picture).

The problem of this people here (or let's say of the most of the people) is having a black screen when using "exclusive direct x". That it is gone when switching it of was clear ...

By the way: I had 120dpi as well. Taking it back to 90 DID SOLVE the problem.

thanks+regards

I have yet to play with the DPI settings but 0.2.2.0 has resulted in an improvement for me. I can get the TV to play fullscreen as long as I don't try and change the aspect ratio. Changing the AR results in a black screen until I set it back to original again! Will keep investigating when time permits and let the forum know for those that will come after us!
