hi all,

I just installed the hauppauge HVR-3000 hybrid tv card. I can't get analog TV to work, sat tv works just fine. when selecting an analog channel, mp says 'could not create graph'. here is what gets logged:

can anyone using this card give me a hint how to make this work? should I try the latest SVN build, or install an additional codec, or install the TV-server engine?

thanks!

Hi trashbarg

From reading other posts on the forums, there seems to be a problem getting the analogue tuner to work on both the HVR-3000 and HVR-4000. I think this is the case in both TVEngine 2 and 3.

I believe it has something to do with the analogue side of the card having software encoding rather than hardware encoding.

Hi
This card works fine with MP, but not with TVServer. However You must install the Soft MCE Softencoder that came with the card.

thanks a lot for the hint, that solved it!

I'm still having some trouble, when switching between analog channels, the audio dies and the video begins to stutter. the workaround is turning tv off and on again. switching between digital and analog or only digital channels is no problem.

also, audio for analog radio is shredded into pieces interrupted by static... I don't really need it, so I can live with that.

I have the same problem. You must have a fast CPU to encode and decode simultaneously. Try activating time shifting.

I am not (yet) using the DVB-T tuner either. getting the DVB-S tuner to work was no problem at all, it worked right away with the driver that XP's plug-and-play installed. from other threads in this forum I guess using both digital tuners on this card can get pretty tricky to set up.

OS: win xp, sp2 (ms fix 896626 installed)
hauppauge driver: 2.118.24324.0

activating the time-shift does solve the problem when switching between analog channels.

I am somewhat surprised that (analog) radio does not work-this seems like a really basic function. does it work for any of you guys? like I said, I don't really need it, but I hate when things don't work

Hi again - my main problem in fact is that I cannot get the DVB-T interface active when using MP - when I try the new tvengine "nothing" works with this card. When I was running MCE the problem was similary - but probably more because of some weird limitation in XP MCE than because of the card - I could either use the DVB-S or DVB-T by re-configuring the drivers. I haven't tried to use the radio interface yet (if I cannot get the tv part up and run the rest is waste of time) - I have only shortly tested it through Hauppauge's native applikations - which of course works without problems.
