Sleep/Hibernate (on wake) Tuner does not work unless done through mediaportal

I want a shutdown option on my remote as such I setup a shutdown (works), hibernate and sleep options. They all work in that the System is placed in the correct mode, however they do not work in that the tuner will not work in media portal (works in VLC), until I restart media portal. If I use the media portal sleep/hibernate options, then the system returns from hibernate or standby and the tuner works without restarting media portal.
I've tried using Windows Hibernat command, girder (friendly and force options), as well as the MS shutdown.exe command which can be downloaded, all of them have the same tuner issue upon restart, what does the Media Portal hibernate command do differently?, is there a hot key to call hibernate or sleep from within media portal?
