Question FireDTV doesn't work after S3 resume

Hi,

does anyone else have issues with your FireDTV when your HTPC resumes after a S3 standby??? I can't tune any channels whatsoever, really annoying. Once in a while it does work, but it's really quite rare.

I'm on the SVN from Nov 20, on both TV Server and MP.

Cheers,
Jens

Do you use Powerscheduler? If so, turn on "REinitialize Device after wakeup".

I have also the same Problem with a FloppyDTV. After resume I´ll get the message "Connection to Channel x lost" and I can´t tune any channel. The option "REinitialize Device after wakeup" is enabled in the PowerScheduler configuration.

hi,

the option "reintialize device..." does nothing to a firewire device like the floppy/firedtv.

the only thing i found is to use mpstandbyhandler that will stop/restart the tvservice.

is the fdtv working without tvservice/mediaportal? if u only use fireviewer and than doing standby/wakeup? if not it could be a firewire problen too.
this i worked by with an other firewire pci-card.

I allso use Floppy DTV. In My case TVserver hangs after a S3 resume.
It allso takes more then 2 minutes to get my desktop (or MP for that matter) on screen.
All other functionallity seems to be okay in MP. I allso suspect the Floppy DTV. Because I'v even tried a S3 stby/resume with TVserver service switched off before stby and swithed on after the resume. But allso than Tvserver hangs. (50% CPU usage and only way to get out is a reboot, allso not possible via taskmanager)
Logs attached. Is there a way to reinit the card, to test this?

Hi Guy's,

Did some more testing on this:
Allso FireDTV viewer hangs with CPU usage 50% and then allso the only way to resolve is to do a complete shutdown (via taskmanager not possible!)
Problem really comes from the FloppyDTV card.
When I disconnect the firewire connection from to the motherboard, my windows desktop comes up within seconds and TVserver and FireDTV viewer have no issues (no TV offcoarse )
Anyone ideas how to resolve this?
It looks like the firewire->floppy dtv card connection needs some kind of restart after S3 resume.

Hi Fredd,
my Problem with the FloppyDTV was solved with the MPStandByHandler, which is configured to make a stop/start of the TVService after resume. Have you tried this solution?

@Sloty32:

I've tried DVB viewer, same problem. It really comes from the Firewire connection, as you allso metioned.
I will get me a Firewire PCI card to see if that will resolve it.

Just fixed my issue on the S3 firewire resume. Found a Bios update, that resolved it.
Another step towards the perfect HTPC with MP
