Hi to all of you, this is the first time that I make a post. I tried to find out a way to configure automatic EPG download for my MP. I installed MP 0.2.2.0 with last TV-Engine and SVN and everything seems to work fine (crypted and clear TV channel) but the TV Guide. In my previous experience (MP without TV-Server) it was "quite simple" understand how it works and implement it. With this new screnario, I'm only able to download (from Satellite) the EPG for the single day.

Does enyone implement/configure this for the weekly TV Guide? I tried to find out the procedure through wiki or forum but without success

Thank you in advance for your support

hi there,

i use the xmltv tvserver plugin and it kind of works in its current state. I have a problem where the guide is 1h off when viewing it in the MP client. I have not been able to resolve this problem yet.

Anyway this is how i do it,

1. Download XMLTV from sourceforge
2. configure xmltv according to the help (tv_grab_xxxx --help)
xmltv tv_grab_xxxx --configure
3. Create a batchfile with the xmltv command line to generate a tvguide.xml
xmltv tv_grab_xxxx --output c:\xmltv\tvguide.xml
4. Create a windows Scheduled task that runs once every day to execute the batchfile
5. Configure the xmltv tvserver plugin with the directory of the tvguide.xml
6. Every time the batch file is executed, the tvserver will import the tvguide into MP
7. Enjoy the updated tvguide in MP

But as earlier stated, i have an issue where the tvguide in the MP client is 1h off and i have not been able to resolve this. This is one of these less urgent issues and i guess the developers will resolve it when there are no more urgent issues around.

Hope this helps,
Jens

All,

Did some more searching in regards to the time offset and found this thread... i have not tested the +01 00 syntax so don't know if that will resolve the problem... but until now i have used just a simple +1 in there so that might explain why it does not work...

XMLTV porblems: timezone, tvguide.xml, etc...

Cheers,
Jens

Hi Jens
thank you for your reply. Your procedure "seems" to work for me too. This means that it downloads something and when I start MP I see some (but not all) Channel guide. I have two more questions to understand how does it work:

1) how can I "force" a new tvguide import in TV server?
2) I have some channels that don't show the guide, this means the pair tvserver-channelname and tvguide-channelname is broken?

thank you
Daniele

Hi there again,

Good to hear that you are getting closer to something that might work!

1. hmmmm... one way is to go to the scheduler and then execute the task or simply just run the batch file. BUT, as we are all wanting to have access to this stuff from within MP. I would suggest you use a plugin called My Programs and configure it so that you run your batch file from this plugin. Then all should be possible from within MP
2. That sounds about right...have a look in the tvguide.xml and find the channel you are not getting the guide for, make sure you rename the channel name in the tvserver to the same as what you have in the tvguide.xml...then hopefully it should all work.

Good luck and have fun,
Jens

fixed

Hi Jens
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! all your suggestion work for me too

- just grab the full tv_grab_it channel list and guide
- edit the tv_grab_it.conf erasing the unnecessary channel
- change the name of channel in TV Server setup accordingly with tv_grab_it.conf
- copy tv_grab_it.conf in .xmltv (overwriting the old one)
- grab again the guide

Thank you again
Daniele

And you didn't have any problems with the 1h offset in the tvguide?

It would be great it TVengine 0.3 could export the channel list in a format readable to WebEPG.

I have a DVT-T setup and I cant grab the EPG data from the stream - so I have to manually edit the WebEPG config to suit the 67 channels I have - NOT FUN.

Would be nice if this was easier to do. Any Ideas?

Hi Jens,
yes I faced the same offset problem but I didn't try to fix yet becase it was to late in night. Anyway I'll try the same way you shared with the pos to the link

Rich, unfortunatelly I forgot WebEPGfor the same problem, I have about 157 channel in my list and try to pair each one of that with a web link is really boring

Cheers
Daniele

Boring..... I would say it was tedious AND boring.

Maybe I can knock up a way to extract channel from SQL Server and auto build the xmltvguide.xml file etc.
