Hi,

I have just upgraded to RC4 and imported my XML backup file with all my TV Channels and TV3 on Freeview seems to have gone out of focus - basically blurry and looks like a closeup of the picture. All other stations are fine.

If I go into the TV Server and preview this channel, it seems to be fine - it's just within Media Portal itself.

Cheers

Graham

PS: I accidentally created another forum by pushing enter - is there a way of removing it from the forum site?

I'd delete that channel and then retune both digital tuners, is TV3 available on analogue as well, because you may be seeing that version.

Analog justs looks so bad compared to digital, cannot even remember the last time i used my tv's analogue tuner.

Hi,

It's on HD. I also have it on analgue and it's fine - weird it's just this one channel - but it has my fishing shows on it - doh!!

I added it again (by manually inputting the settings) and the same thing happened. It seems to preview OK as well.

Not keen to setup all my tuning again - is is possible to manually tune one channel?

More interested on getting my sleep issues sorted!!

Cheers

Graham

TV3 is unusual from all other HD channels in NZ because it broadcasts in 1080i, all the others are 720p.

This may be why it is displaying differently, i would suspect your codec would be a good place to start. I see you're using Coreavc either check its settings or alternatively download the trial of Powerdvd8 and use that as your H264 codec instead and see if it makes a differece.

CoreAVC was working fine in RC3, so not sure why it doesn't work in RC4? I will look at the settings as you have suggested.

Hi,

There are stuff all settings under CoreAVC and nothing obvious.

I also noticed that a recording I had made on TV3 prior to upgrading from RC3 to RC4 is also affected the same way. I'm not keen to move to any other Codec as CoreAVC has given me the best picture.

Again, why can I preview OK in TVS, but it doesn't work in MP?

Tvserver might well be using another codec, on my machine it prefers ffdshow, hence it works there.

My suggestion is simply to install and try the PDVD8 trial codec for H264, if it solves the issue you have your answer, if not then uninstall and you're a little closer to the solution.

PDVD8 allows for hardware acceleration, Coreavc does not, which might also be a consideration as that means your cpu would be less stressed if your graphics hardware allows h264 acceleration

Hi 5Hundred,

I found in a forum a suggestiion to deactivate de-interlacing in CoreAVC and I now have a picture, but it's blurry when there is a lot of movement.

I bought this codec and it worked fine in RC3, so I'm still frustrated that it doesn't work in RC4.

Does anybody have any ideas about settings in MP as I'm convinced this is the answer. All my settings got changed with the upgrade, however I did do a recommended backup. Is there a way of loading the settings I had in RC3 before upgrading to RC4?

No worries, it certainly appears to be codec related given that you changed a setting within Coreavc and the picture changed, but this could also point to graphics driver issues.

You could try using graphedit to check exactly what codec is being used for H264 playback of 1080i and what settings its using

Hi,

I'm still trying to find out why CoreAVC is not working 100% on 1080p programs by writing to them directly for ideas.

Also trying to understand what de-interlacing is all about and whether it's important for HD - any ideas on that?

How much was PDVD8 and is the picture perfect on 1080p i.e. no blurring at all? It's just that I have already paid for CoreAVC and from what I have read it should work and offer what other codecs offer, but maybe I'm wrong??

Cheers
