Country: | Hi, I have setup MediaPortal TV Server on a machine, and its working fine, and running media portal on that machine (single seat) works great However no other mediaportal on other machines will connect. They are both communicating (the PCS i mean) because i can browse files through them. The Server has its Firewall disabled. Im using Vista on server, vista and xp on the two clients i try to connect. I just keep getting: "Unable to connect to tvserver" "Unable to connect to database" |

Country: | Hi, Well then it's time to tell us your system specs, what MP you use etc + logs from both server & client. Remember to use same version on all (MP & TVE3/TVPlugin) & also reboot after firewall it's been disabled to really disable it in Windows ![]() Regards Roy |

Country: | Hi I can only assume this is a sql express problem, because I have install MS Sql Server Management Studio Express on another machine, and when you Browse for server name it finds the server (TVSERVER\SQLEXPRESS), but then when i connect (using sa and the password i specified) I gives the following error: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1) Is this enlightning for anyone. All I can find is: Make sure sqlbrowse is running (it is and I assume the fact that MSSqlSMSE can find it proves that), check firewall open (i have disabled firewall and restarted). Not sure what else to try? I can post more on TVServer3 / Mediaportal if neccessary, but I feel that perhaps this is where the problem is |

Country: | Hmmm, You need to follow the guide & make sure everything it's done correct, not sure where it stops @ your place. Usually it is the SQL Browser thats not started or firewall blocking... Regards Roy |
